#WeekendCoffeeShare – Writing More, Running Less

If  we were having coffee, we’d be at Starbucks.  That’s right, it’s a coffee share on location!  I’ve already secured a large, (they call that venti here, but if you say large, like I do, they understand) black coffee, and I can wait while you saunter up to the counter and gather in your heart’s desire.

Now that we’re all settled in, let’s talk. Continue reading “#WeekendCoffeeShare – Writing More, Running Less”

#WeekendCoffeeShare – Busy, Sleepy Weekend

cropped-cappuccino-on-table

If we were having coffee, we would have football on the tube and a nice fresh pot of coffee in the kitchen.  Won’t you help yourself to some?  It’s time to freshen mine up, so I can show you the way.  If coffee’s not your thing, we have tea, milk, and of course water.

Hopefully, you’ve had a good weekend.  We have, but it’s been a busy one starting Thursday at work.  It was a long day (and night) leaving too little sleep for Friday, but Friday came anyway.  After work Friday, we went to singing at church, then once home I was wide awake and though sleep would have been wiser, it was guitar time.  I’ve been trying to learn 3am by Matchbox Twenty, and this led to too little sleep for Saturday.  Saturday, I was up at 7am, to get the bikes ready for my daughter and I to go ride for a few hours before the wife and I went to a local college football game.  Home team lost.  Once home, I stayed up too late watching more football and slept a little too little for work on Sunday.  The hour rollback helped with that though. #WeekendCoffeeShare – Healing Up

cropped-cappuccino-on-table

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I was feeling better.  Not great, but better.  There’s coffee in the pot, so pour a cup and relax.  And great news, I don’t think I’m contagious at all this week!

The past week has been kinda sucky.  Last Saturday, my throat started hurting.  That stage passed by Monday, then came the sometimes stuffy, sometimes runny nose and sneezing, followed by the now present sinus drainage and coughing spells.  It was a good time!

If there is a bright side, it was all the rest, as I was sleeping more than should be allowed, and was still tired despite it all.  I can call this a bright side because, as you know, I’ve been a bit injured and taking it easy while healing is not my strong suit.

On the negative side, of which there are many, was my lack of production.  I’m referring to writing here.  November is on the way, and I started thinking of nanowrimo as it approached.  Never mind that I’ve never done it, I’ve got an idea to write on, and some of an outline done.  The fact that November is packed full of both work and personal obligations is making me reconsider, but hey, I may give it a go yet.  Even if I don’t finish, it’ll be a start on something, so we’ll see.  That outline should have fleshed out over this past week, but like I said, with the sick came the next to no production, so there’s that to deal with too.  If, and that’s a big if, I give nanowrimo a shot, it’ll be an uphill battle for sure.

How about you?  Are you giving nanowrimo a shot, and is it your first time or are you a nano veteran?  And if you are, how was your experience?

As for running, I’m going to give it a go next week.  It’s been 9 weeks now. so I’m hoping that will be enough.  The plan is to start out slow and short, and build speed and mileage in a slow controlled way.  Oh, and lots of foam rolling and massage to keep the calves from blowing up again.  That’s the plan anyway.

With all that said, I’ll let you go.  Hope you all have a great week!  Thanks for stopping by, see you all back here next week!

#WeekendCoffeeShare is an informal weekly link-up that serves as something of a mind-dump for the week.  If there are typos and what-not found here, I apologize, but mind-dump.  I don’t do a lot of editing here as I like that it is more a stream of consciousness type post, normally written while drinking coffee, listening to music, and reflecting on the week gone by.

#WeekendCoffeeShare – Sore Throated Coffee Share

cropped-cappuccino-on-table

If we were having coffee, I’d offer you a cup from the freshly brewed pot just there in the kitchen, and warn you not to get too close.  My throat started hurting last night, and even though I’ve medicated throughout the day, it’s still hurting.  So, grab some coffee or something more to your liking, but don’t get too close.

We have football on the tv, but the sound is down to allow us to listen to some music.  Right now, Alanis is singing “That I Would Be Good,” a nice relaxing but thought provoking tune. Continue reading “#WeekendCoffeeShare – Sore Throated Coffee Share”

#WeekendCoffeeShare -Back to Writing, but Not Running.

cappuccino on table

If we were having coffee, I would apologize for the venue just before apologizing for standing you up on our coffee date last week.  We find ourselves in yet another hotel lobby this evening, but the coffee is pretty good.  (At least it’s hot.)  It was the best I could do.  All the coffee shops within walking distance closed early, except Dunkin of which I am not a fan.  So here we are.  Go ahead and grab a cup and I’ll refresh mine. #WeekendCoffeeShare – Almost Normal

cropped-cappuccino-on-table

If we were having, I would be drinking Stok (Pronounced stoke as it’s written with a line over the o) cold brew with milk.  It’s good stuff.  I get the black unsweetened variety and add stuff or not.  Either way, good stuff!  Help yourself to a cup, and doctor it up if you like.

Hopefully you all had a great week!  Mine was pretty good as we inched back toward normalcy.  We still have a little way to go, as there are many in the area that have been affected by flooding.  Not us, but there is some rough places not far from us and some roads still effected by water.  All the roads should be clear by mid-week and we will be that much closer to normal. #WeekendCoffeeShare – Florence is Gone, Here Comes the Water

cappuccino on table

If we were having coffee, I’d thank everyone who wished us all well last week as Florence was blowing in.  We missed the worst of it, only losing power for a night and most of the next day, but our neighbors to the north didn’t make out as well.

There is a fresh pot in the kitchen.  I can grab you a cup of that, or if you’d rather, there is hot tea.  I can micro some water for that!  That’s really about all we have other than water.  The fridge is kinda bear still from the no power purge last week, but we’ll get restocked fully eventually.

The past week was pretty crazy.  I ended up going to work Saturday night after the power cam back to start a long, long week.  With the hurricane bearing down, they made the decision to shut work down.  Safety first right?  Well, what ensued was a lot of long hours getting things back right so that we could run again.  The weeknights were spent working, and the days spent sleeping.  That was my whole week really, up ’til Friday at eleven o’clock.  Things were back to normal, and I came home for the weekend.  Whew!

Funny thing was that when I got home Friday, I wasn’t tired at all.  After staying up all night every night all week, left me with energy to burn, and so I was up to about 6 am, writing, guitaring, and just messing around.  I slept 5 or 6 hours and then slept well Saturday night.

As you can imagine, not a lot of anything went on until Friday night.  That’s when I posted this week’s #FridayFictioneers, started outlining what I hope to turn into a novel, and stuff.  I wanted to edit another episode of the Warriors serial as there’s a couple written (written during the hurricane), but that hasn’t happened yet.  Hopefully early this week that will be edited and up!

I say hopefully because we’ve got a lot of water on the way.  Flooding is expected for much of the area, and has already started in some places.  Home won’t flood, but work may and if that happens all bets are off.

The flooding is the emergency this week.  Hopefully, it won’t be as bad as they think.  If it is, it’s going to be really bad.  Nothing to do but wait and see though.  Wish us luck!

You guys have a great week!  I’ll try to be back next week so that we can have coffee again.
