If we were having coffee, I’d say that I’ve probably had enough coffee for the day, but I think I can sip on another cup or two with you since you stopped by. And thanks for stopping by! You are, of course, always welcome, and you know I can always hook you up with a caffeine boost in the form of a hot brewed coffee. Coffee not your thing, we can probably find something to suit you.Continue reading “#WeekendCoffeeShare – 2019/09/14”
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you how happy I am that Dorian blew on by without too much heartache and hardship to the home-front and the surrounding areas. We would have the Saturday night college football game on, LSU at Texas, and be sipping some fresh brewed Eight O’Clock coffee. Coffee not your thing? We can probably scrounge up some tea or something to suit you, so sit back, relax, and let’s chat.Continue reading “#WeekendCoffeeShare – 2019/09/07”
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I’ve thought a lot about writing over the last couple of weeks. Then, I’d mention that thinking about writing does not translate to writing. The past couple of weeks have been a struggle, and I can’t tell you why.
Anyway, it’s late, just past midnight, but there’s coffee in the pot and college football on the tv, so grab a cup and make yourself comfortable and we’ll see how the game turns out. It’s Oregon and Auburn. I recorded it while out running, so if you know who wins, don’t spoil it for me.
If writing has been the dark spot over the last couple of weeks, running has to be the bright counterpoint to that. The half marathon training is going well. Tonight’s run was 9 miles and I’m happy to say they came fairly easy. If the race had been tonight, the distance would not have been an issue, so I’ll probably start doing a bit more speedwork so that perhaps I can finish the race faster than I previously thought I could.
I think I’ll keep this short tonight. Mostly because there’s not much to report, and partly so we can play around on the guitar while the game plays. So feel free to sit back and relax, there’s lots of coffee and more can be brewed it we go through the pot.
Thanks for stopping by, see you next week!
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you about the little alligator I saw on my run Friday. We’d sip our coffee, Seattle’s Best, fresh brewed with whatever fixings you’d prefer and listen to the tunes flow softly from a random playlist. Right now, it’s Maren Morriss, up next, who knows?
So yeah, the alligator turned out to be the best part of Friday’s run. It was hot and humid, and I was tired, but the week had not allowed for a lot of miles and I really was looking to put in a good effort. What I ended up with was seven and a quarter miles of struggle and some pics of a little gator who had found himself on the road.Continue reading “#WeekendCoffeeShare – 8/18/19”
If we were having coffee, I’d offer you a nice fresh brewed coffee or hot tea, and if hot’s not your thing right now cause it’s been hot even with the cool front we’re supposedly having, there’s some cold coffee as well. And if all else fails, we have water that can be served either iced or room temp. Please help yourself.
Once we’re all settled, hot or cold drinks in hand, we could chat a bit about the week gone by and enjoy a bit of music. I hope you don’t mind Jimmy Buffett, I’m in a bit of an island mood tonight, so the music fits. “License to Chill” is playing softly in the background as we start our talk.Continue reading “#WeekendCoffeeShare – 2019/07/26”
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I’ve been on vacation this week and that it was nice to have a week away from work, but that I didn’t do half of what I thought I would.
Can I get you a cup of coffee? Fresh brewed!
It seems, for me at least, that when vacation time rolls around, dreams of getting tons done roll around with it. And, if you’re like me, those things rarely happen. Such is life on vacation I think.Continue reading “#WeekendCoffeeShare 2019-07-19”
If we were having coffee, I’d say that it’s been a pretty good week, turn the tv off, and put some music on. It’s so hard to talk with the tv gobbling up so much attention, but a little soft background music seems just about right. I’m feeling a little Jimmy Buffett tonight, and the first song up, “A Pirate Looks at 40.” A classic!
I’d offer you some coffee, but maybe that’s not your thing. We could probably dig up some tea bags if you prefer that, and there’s always water. Water is what I drink most, cool refreshing water is always great, but coffee is also a constant in my life, starting my days and often finishing off the evening.
Now that we’re all settled and sipping, we can chat about the week.
I said last week that I was back writing, and so I am. I’ve rewritten much of a story that I always liked but knew that it had some flaws, and so I went back in and started cutting it up. It’s the same story, but different (if that makes sense). I like to think that things are better described, that the story is tighter, and that my main character is better developed. The story is close to done! All that’s left is the ending, and that’s going to be a little tricky, but it should be done soon. I’ll make a couple editing passes after that and see what happens.
The week in running has been okay. I’ve logged 13.7 miles in this hot, hot, humid southern heat. There’s one more day in my running week, so I’m hoping for at least five more miles to get close to 20 for the week. I had planned more miles this week, but it didn’t work out. I am pretty happy with the 8 miler I did yesterday, even if I did have to do a little walk/run/walk/run for the last mile and a half. It was the longest I’ve gone since injury and it gives me hope for future runs. The most encouraging part of the run was after the run when everything still felt good. I mean, there was some soreness of the quads and hips, but no real pain, so yay! All in all, the half marathon training is going well!
On the reading front, I’m reading David Faland’s “Beyond the Gate,” and listening to Stephen King’s “It” on Audible. Both good books for drastically different reasons.
So, how was your week? Are you reading any good books? I’m always on the lookout for a good book, especially in the area of scifi/fantasy. Anything else going on? Tell me about it.
Hope you have a great weekend/week! See you here again soon!
WeekendCoffeeShare is an informal weekly link-up hosted now by Eclectic Alli that serves as something of a mind-dump for the week. If there are typos and what-not found here, I apologize, but mind-dump. I don’t do a lot of editing here as I like that it is more a stream of consciousness type post, normally written while drinking coffee, listening to music, and reflecting on the week gone by.
If you would like, you can write and post your own Weekend Coffee Share here with the rest of us coffee drinking fiends!
