#WeekendCoffeeShare 2019-07-13

If we were having coffee, I’d say that it’s been a pretty good week, turn the tv off, and put some music on. It’s so hard to talk with the tv gobbling up so much attention, but a little soft background music seems just about right. I’m feeling a little Jimmy Buffett tonight, and the first song up, “A Pirate Looks at 40.” A classic!

I’d offer you some coffee, but maybe that’s not your thing. We could probably dig up some tea bags if you prefer that, and there’s always water. Water is what I drink most, cool refreshing water is always great, but coffee is also a constant in my life, starting my days and often finishing off the evening.

Now that we’re all settled and sipping, we can chat about the week.

I said last week that I was back writing, and so I am. I’ve rewritten much of a story that I always liked but knew that it had some flaws, and so I went back in and started cutting it up. It’s the same story, but different (if that makes sense). I like to think that things are better described, that the story is tighter, and that my main character is better developed. The story is close to done! All that’s left is the ending, and that’s going to be a little tricky, but it should be done soon. I’ll make a couple editing passes after that and see what happens.

The week in running has been okay. I’ve logged 13.7 miles in this hot, hot, humid southern heat. There’s one more day in my running week, so I’m hoping for at least five more miles to get close to 20 for the week. I had planned more miles this week, but it didn’t work out. I am pretty happy with the 8 miler I did yesterday, even if I did have to do a little walk/run/walk/run for the last mile and a half. It was the longest I’ve gone since injury and it gives me hope for future runs. The most encouraging part of the run was after the run when everything still felt good. I mean, there was some soreness of the quads and hips, but no real pain, so yay! All in all, the half marathon training is going well!

On the reading front, I’m reading David Faland’s “Beyond the Gate,” and listening to Stephen King’s “It” on Audible. Both good books for drastically different reasons.

So, how was your week? Are you reading any good books? I’m always on the lookout for a good book, especially in the area of scifi/fantasy. Anything else going on? Tell me about it.

Hope you have a great weekend/week! See you here again soon!

WeekendCoffeeShare is an informal weekly link-up hosted now by Eclectic Alli that serves as something of a mind-dump for the week. If there are typos and what-not found here, I apologize, but mind-dump. I don’t do a lot of editing here as I like that it is more a stream of consciousness type post, normally written while drinking coffee, listening to music, and reflecting on the week gone by.

If you would like, you can write and post your own Weekend Coffee Share here with the rest of us coffee drinking fiends!

If we were having coffee, we would be drinking some fresh brewed Seattle’s Best coffee and listening to Jimmy Buffett. Tonight’s set is getting going with ‘A Pirate Looks at 40.’ Jimmy and I both have put that one astern and that’s alright. Beats the alternative they say.

If we were having coffee, I’d offer you something nice to drink. I have coffee, tea, and perhaps a few other things that may suit you. Let’s see what we can rustle up. I’m having coffee myself. Left-over from this morning, but microwaved to boiling so it’s all good. If you help me finish off this old pot, we can put on a new one.

Now that we’re all settled, we can relax a bit, talk, and listen to a bit of music. I’ve got Jimmy Buffett playing “He Went to Paris” right now and after that, who knows? I like my Jimmy Buffett. Maybe it’s the sound and feel of the islands, where the weather suits my clothes, if I can borrow that phrase from the man himself. In these winter months, it’s nice to think of the tropics and times when it was not so cold.

If we were having coffee, we would be sitting here in the near dark with naught but the light of the computer screen and lava lamp. Willie Nelson is playing all his greatest hits for us, and there is a fresh pot of coffee just in the kitchen there. Won’t you help yourself to a cup or maybe a bit of tea if you would rather?

It’s been a pretty good week as writing goes. Work was a bit slower, the weather was a lot better, and on the whole, I had some time and energy at the end of most days to devote to it. Not always a lot of time, but I like to get a little done everyday if possible.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that it’s been a long week and that I’m so happy that it’s the weekend.  We would be here, listening to music, (a playlist on my phone that’s playing Round Here by the Counting Crows right now) and sipping fresh brewed coffee.  It feels good to relax for a day or two.  I’m thinking we have this whole work week thing backwards, working five days and off two.  Who came up with that?  Oh well, I’ll sip my coffee and be thankful for the downtime that never seems to last long enough.

Wow, I feel like I’m rambling already.  Most rude of me.  Perhaps it’s because my writing this week has been nonexistent.  The long days at work, and the cold weather (not Chicago cold, thank goodness!) had me feeling tired and unmotivated.  I hate that feeling.  There were a couple of nights I fell into bed around 8 o’clock to read a bit, only to fall asleep shortly after going down. #WeekendCoffeeShare – 01-26-19

cropped-cappuccino-on-tableHello and welcome to my virtual coffee room!  Please help yourself to a coffee, freshly brewed, or a bit of tea if that’s your thing.  There’s a few other things available as well, do feel free to grab whatever floats your boat, blow up your skirt, etc, etc…

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I am so close to finishing the very rough first draft of a vampire story that I think will be novella length if I can keep focus long enough to get it there.  Of course it may be longer, I won’t know that until I start filling in all the details that I left out, skimmed over, and blatantly ignored while trying to get through a skeleton of a completed story longer than a thousand words or so.  The longer things never seem to work for me, though I try, OMG, how I try. If we were having coffee, we would be watching NFL playoff football and drinking some nice Seattle’s Best Breakfast Blend.  Never mind that it’s nowhere near breakfast.  I’ve also got a few different teas and some apple cider if that’s more your thing.  What can I get you?

I’d tell you that it was a pretty good week as far as writing goes, with words being written almost every day.  Friday is typically an off day for writing, as it tends to be busy at work and lots of times a night out for dinner or a movie.  I’ve been writing during lunch at work, then coming home and trying to get a little more done at some point in the evening.  With all the rain we’ve been having, there’s little else to do anyway.
