#WeekendCoffeeShare – So, so tired…

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you how tired I really am right now.  Then, I’d offer you a cup of this fine (not really) hotel coffee.  That’s all I really have right now, other than water.  It’s good water though.  So for that, I apologize.  There’s got to be a coffee shop around here somewhere, but again, tired.  And that bed is right there and, well, you know.

We ran a Spartan Super today, and let me tell you, there was some suffering going on out there.  Out weather has been mild lately, but today was nothing but hot.  Mid 90’s and humid turned what looked to be a good race into a struggle.

All was good, not great, at the 5 mile mark.  By the sixth mile the cramps came on hard, and they didn’t quit.  Not even after the race was done at about 8.5 miles.  You could say that it was a tale of two races.  There for a while, I thought that I would have a great, maybe my best, race ever despite not feeling my running legs early.  Then the last bit, when it all fell apart.

Since the race ended, I’ve hydrated like a madman.  We race again tomorrow after all, and it would be nice to do it without the cramps.  I’m not confident.  Tomorrow’s race is a Sprint so it won’t be as long.  So that’s good.  It should come in somewhere between 3 to 5 miles, and if I’m lucky, cramp free.

I do appreciate you stopping by!  But unfortunately, I’m going to put my head on that pillow over there, so I’ll see you next week if not before.  Have a great week everyone!

#WeekendCoffeeShare – Looking Forward

cappuccino on tableIf we were having coffee, we’d be drinking instant.  Hey, it’s that or water.  Nothing against water, but this is the #WeekendCoffeeShare, so…  So I’ll get a cup of that mentioned water in the microwave, and we can get to talking.

We had a good race in Fayetteville Spartan Super this morning.  It was my best time in a Super so far, finishing the 8.3 mile course which held 27 obstacles in 1:49:44.  Of course I would have liked to have been faster, but what racer wouldn’t.  All in all, it was a good run for me.

#WeekendCoffeeShare 5-14-2017

coffee share picWhat a weekend!  If we were having coffee, we would have lots to talk about.  So grab a cup out of that fresh brewed pot on the counter and sit back.  I’ll turn on a bit of music.  Anything you feel like lstening to tonight?

There we are.  So, the weekend went well.  We made our first trip to Daytona Beach and even though we didn’t spend much time on the beach itself, it was cool.  What we did do was wake up early Saturday, drive to Bunnell, and race the Spartan Super there.  It was our first race in Florida and it went really well, with both my daughter and I finishing the course of about nine miles and 27 or so obstacles in 2 hours, 2 minutes, and some seconds.  She edged me out by about 20 seconds at the end of the day with a great running effort on her part.  I thought that it was really cool that we finished so close in time, considering we started about an hour apart.  I am so proud of her and the hard work she has put in to get to where she is now and the potential she still has for her future in the sport.
