If we were having coffee, I’d be icing my calf and drinking some iced coffee to boot! Why not? One ice goes with the other, but if you would prefer, we can put on a pot or maybe make some tea. Now that we all have drinks, let’s talk.
It was a big weekend in the Spartan world. The North American Championship Race was held in West Virginia, and we were there! But the weekend was a mix of good and bad. First, the good. The West Virginia race venue is awesome. The race atmosphere of it all and seeing most of the top pros in person, and in my daughter’s place, racing against them, was great. The bad was the way my race ended. Halfway (about 8 miles) through the race at the darn hard slip wall, I sprinted hard to gain enough momentum to carry me to the short rope near the top of the wall. As soon as my foot hit the wall, my calf knotted up and my leg quit. I hoped that it was a cramp and would go away, but after about 20 minutes laying in the grass, limping around, and hoping for improvement, it became evident my day was done.
