If we were having coffee, we would be in the car again, looking for that next cup of Joe, whether it be at a roadside coffee shop or when we get home. Only time will tell on that front. As for now, we have water to hold us over if we get too thirsty.Continue reading “#WeekendCoffeeShare – 2020-02-23”
If we were having coffee, we would be drinking, yet again, what the hotel is passing off as coffee. It seems that it’s been there for a bit now as it’s just warm instead of hot, but there is a microwave here in the room, so we can handle that. I also noticed some tea bags down there if that’s your thing. Again, we can make use of the microwave to get that water piping hot, and then we can relax a bit and chat over drinks. That sounds nice.
Well, I suppose that it has been a while. Bit all the same, if we were having coffee, I’d tell you to drag up a chair, maybe order up a coffee or tea or whatever kind of concoction you would like since we would be hanging out in the Barnes & Noble Cafe. The fine folks here can hook you right up!
All good? Great, shall we chat?
What a weekend! If we were having coffee, we would have lots to talk about. So grab a cup out of that fresh brewed pot on the counter and sit back. I’ll turn on a bit of music. Anything you feel like lstening to tonight?
There we are. So, the weekend went well. We made our first trip to Daytona Beach and even though we didn’t spend much time on the beach itself, it was cool. What we did do was wake up early Saturday, drive to Bunnell, and race the Spartan Super there. It was our first race in Florida and it went really well, with both my daughter and I finishing the course of about nine miles and 27 or so obstacles in 2 hours, 2 minutes, and some seconds. She edged me out by about 20 seconds at the end of the day with a great running effort on her part. I thought that it was really cool that we finished so close in time, considering we started about an hour apart. I am so proud of her and the hard work she has put in to get to where she is now and the potential she still has for her future in the sport. Continue reading “#WeekendCoffeeShare 5-14-2017”
If we were having coffee, then we would be riding together in the truck on the way home from Tennessee. It’s going to be a long trip. As a mater of fact, I’m not having any coffee right at the moment, but when we find a Starbucks, we can surely fix that. I can gaurantee you that that will happen at some point on this trip. If you like, you can get tea or one of those fancy frozen things.
We would probably be talking about the race and just the weekend in general, but mostly about the race. It was a tough course. I know because my daughter and I walked it yesterday, and because I raced it for a grand total of nine minutes before blowing up the bike. Oh well, the bike being broke is better than me being broke, so I’ll take it.
My daughter has more to talk about. She raced the full two hours and came away with a second place finish in her class. She confirmed to me that the course was tough. Now that we’ve exhausted all the race talk, let’s find some food and maybe then that coffee.
It sure is pretty here this time of year. The leaves are changing everywhere you look and everything just looks as if it was taken straight out of a picture book. It’s easy to forget the beauty of the mountains when you don’t see them very often. We have a different beauty down on the coast, and you know what, we don’t ever really think about it. The people who live here in the mountains probably don’t ever notice the beauty that’s outside their door either.
I always look forward to the #weekendcoffeeshare, so I’m trying to do it on the road. There’s a reason or two not to wait until we get home. One is that it will be late, and I’ll be tired. The other is that we don’t have the best internet at home. We have to have sattelite internet at home because of where we live. With sattelite internet comes bandwith limitations and they suck. I didn’t do my normal tuesday post specifically because of them!
We got an email warning just the other day to “watch your usage,” so we have been curtailing ourselves as best we can. That email normally comes late in the month and that’s fine, but this time it came only two weeks into the month and there starts the curtailing. There are things we need the internet for, so all of the unessential things get chopped off. So sorry that I haven’t been as chatty on Twitter and that I missed a post. I’ll try to do better this week, but you know, no promises.
To close, let me say that I’m typing this on a tablet and the normal squiggly lines that pop up under misspelled words doesn’t do that here, so if there are things that I’ve missed, sorry.
As for now, I’m gonna go. If we don’t find food soon, we may hurt each other. Y’all have a great week!
