#WeekendCoffeeShare – Jacksonville Terrain Race

If we were having coffee, we would be on the way home from the Terrain Race in Jacksonville Florida. (Just a few more hours!)

Anyway, I just finished sipping a nice cup of hot Christmas Blend from the Starbucks inside of Target. I’m not sure what you got, but I hope it was nice and tasty like mine.

Now that we have drinks, I’d tell you how good the race went. I finished the competive heat without losing my band, though I can honestly say that I need to improve my running. That six weeks of torn calf muscle healing has really taken a toll on me. I finished though, and am healthy still, so I’ll count it a success.

That’s not the best thing though. My awesome daughter, who is a much better racer than me, took second female in the competitive wave! Her first pro podium, netting her a big check for $100! She was so happy standing up on that podium with that big check held high over her head!

Yes, I am a proud dad.

That was about it for us over the weekend. We tried to see the new Star Wars, but the theater was crazy and all but the front row was sold out, so we opted for “Murder on the Orient Express” instead. It was good, not to mention nice and relaxing after the race.

I guess that works out anyway though since my daughter wanted to re-watch “The Force Awakens” before going to see the new one. Perhaps we can do that tonight.

As for now, I need to check on the #FridayFictioneers link. I began a story on the way down, but never got to finish it. If the link is still good, I need to get on it. If not, I should probably still finish the story. Though maybe not in 100 words. We’ll see.

So, I’ll let you go. I hope to see you next week. ‘Til then, safe travels!

#WeekendCoffeeShare 5-14-2017

coffee share picWhat a weekend!  If we were having coffee, we would have lots to talk about.  So grab a cup out of that fresh brewed pot on the counter and sit back.  I’ll turn on a bit of music.  Anything you feel like lstening to tonight?

There we are.  So, the weekend went well.  We made our first trip to Daytona Beach and even though we didn’t spend much time on the beach itself, it was cool.  What we did do was wake up early Saturday, drive to Bunnell, and race the Spartan Super there.  It was our first race in Florida and it went really well, with both my daughter and I finishing the course of about nine miles and 27 or so obstacles in 2 hours, 2 minutes, and some seconds.  She edged me out by about 20 seconds at the end of the day with a great running effort on her part.  I thought that it was really cool that we finished so close in time, considering we started about an hour apart.  I am so proud of her and the hard work she has put in to get to where she is now and the potential she still has for her future in the sport. #weekendcoffeeshare – Overdoing it

IMG_20160408_194710083If we were having coffee, I would apologize for missing last week’s coffee share and commit to starting again fresh. Fresh, like this wonderful 8 O’clock Coffee that we’re sipping hot from the Ninja Coffee brewing thing. It’s a great little machine that occupies the space now vacated by the Keurig that once lived on the counter-top.

Speaking of last week’s coffee share, I should tell you that what happened was completely my fault. The weekend went something like this. It was the first weekend off (first day for that matter), in a few weeks. I was tired and not feeling the best, but I had high hopes for the weekend and all that I would do with it. Saturday morning would consist of a run and then the rest of the day I would get lots of stuff done, including my #weekendcoffeeshare.
