If we were having coffee, I would be drinking something new from the Keurig machine today. Cafe Verona, a dark roast from Starbucks, is on brew today. I picked it up from the grocery earlier today, and it’s pretty darn good. Won’t you have a cup?

Coffee not your thing?  That’s okay. I’m sure we have something else. Maybe a nice tea or hot cocoa. Help yourself.

Last week was pretty good. On the running front, I had several morning runs, but nothing over three miles. The lack of mileage is just a bit of a disappointment, as I had hoped for a long run later in the week that never happened.

Saturday was a rest day after my hardest workout of the week Friday morning. Friday’s workout involved lots of sprinting and tire flipping. It went like this. A one hundred yard Sprint followed by twenty tire flips, repeated until 120 tire flips were done and over a mile of sprints were logged. What a workout!

Today, I logged two miles in the trails, 20 burpees, 10 tire flips, and a rope climb. Not bad, but not the best. Tonight, I’ll do a bit of meal prep and get some good sleep for tomorrow’s morning run. I’m looking for my best week in a long time this week. Hopefully, my mileage will be up a bit and that long run will happen.

Running in the morning isn’t always easy, but it’s always worth it. Hope you guys have a great week. God bless!

If we were having coffee, I’d hope you wouldn’t mind if you just had some for the both of us.  It’s been a full weekend and I’ll be heading off to bed soon, in hopes of waking up in time for work tomorrow.  Besides, I stopped by the Starbucks on the way home from the race.  It made the last couple hours all the more bearable.  So, please help yourself.  We have an assortment of Keurig things and even some green tea. Let’s talk!

Yeah, it’s been a full weekend, but I hate to see it gone.  My daughter raced her dirtbike today and brought home a hard fought third place at the hare scramble.  She rode good despite having some struggles early on.  She fought through them and turned in some good laps, making us all proud.

The races are always fun.  You know what’s not fun though?  The drive home.  After spending hours out in the sun yesterday walking the trail to get an idea of what would be in store for her on race day, then spending hours out in the sun today, watching her and hundreds of others, you tend to tire a bit.  That makes the ride home rough, but we made it.  And I’ve got a killer farmer’s tan going on now.  Yee Haw!!

Anyway, I’m looking forward to this next week.  I plan to get a good deal of running in.  I’ve been looking at some races that would be fun to run, and I don’t want to show up unprepared so I need to up my mileage.  You could call me a slacker right here lately, and I wouldn’t be able to argue too much with you.

So I’ve got a goal for the week, and that’s to be more consistent with my running.  What’s your goal?  Whatever it is, I hope you reach it.

Y’all have a great week.  God bless!

It’s Sunday and unfortunately, the weekend is slipping away, but fear not fine reader, there is another just five short days away.  And, it’s time for the weekend coffee share.  Let’s talk!

If we were having coffee, tonight I would be having a fine brew called Newman’s Own Organic, medium roast.  It is, so far, my favorite that Keurig has to offer.  That probably says something about me, but I’ll not be psychoanalyzing myself tonight.  I’ll leave that to you.  So please help yourself to whatever you find in the K-cup drawer and kick back for a bit.

Yesterday was a full day, and it for once in a long while didn’t involve work.  That’s right, I finally got a day off and took full advantage of it.  It started perfectly with some well deserved extra sleep.  Once up, it was time to get busy.  My daughter and I got outside and mounted dirt bikes for a fun weekend activity.  It’s been weeks since I rode, and it was so much fun to get back on it.

Then we cooked a healthy dinner and watched some tv.  First the Supercross race, then the UFC on Fox.  A great night indeed.  Unfortunately, all good things must end, and it did.  This fine Sunday morning, I found myself back and work and in a foul mood to boot.  You know, one of those moods where you don’t even want to be on the planet.  That was me.  Not until that little two mile trail run after work, did I feel right again.  Funny how that is.

Anyway, I hope you guys are doing good out there.  Try not to work too much this week.  Heck, you may as well rest up for the weekend that’s coming!

Thanks for reading, and God Bless!

If we were having coffee, tonight I would be drinking this Gevalia Cappuccino that I found the other day at the grocery.  That’s it in the pic above.  Yeah, I know that it’s not a real cappuccino, but that’s okay.  It’s really good and simple too.  Just pour some powder in the bottom of the cup, and let the Keurig do the rest.  Amazing!  You should give one a try, but if that’s not your thing, I’m sure we can hook you up with something.

So we’ve put yet another week of 2016 behind us, and are looking forward to the future ahead.  What’s that future hold?  Let’s see.

  1.  Work should be getting back to normal.  That means that I can start running and training the way I wish I could have over the past month.  The Spartan Super is coming fast, and I need to be ready for it.
  2. I’ll keep writing everyday.  So far, I’m up to somewhere north of 1000 days in a row on The Magic Spreadsheet.  That’s at least 250 words a day for over a thousand days.  I plan to keep that going.

That’s really all that’s on my list.  Oh, one other thing.  I signed this site up for the Amazon Affiliate Links program in order to monetize the site.  I don’t expect much from it, but it’s a great experiment and that’s one of the fun things about blogging.  The fun of experimenting.  So let’s see where it goes.  I promise that I won’t club you over the head with ads, and if things get annoying, they’ll stop.

With that said, I’ll let you go.  We’re going to watch “Fear The Walking Dead” and then head off to sleep.  Hope you guys have a great week!  Thanks for stopping by.  God bless!

If we were having coffee, I’d be having this “Original Donut Shop Coffee,” fresh from the Keurig.  To be honest, it’s not my fave, but it’s okay.  I prefer a darker roast, but if something a bit lighter is your thing, by all means, grab a cup.  There is also green tea if you would prefer that.  Other than that, sorry to say there’s not much else.  Except water.  I like water.  If that’s your thing too, have at it.

Today was my first day off in a while.  Since the sixth of last month, I’ve been at work, so today was great.  To say that I needed it, is an accurate statement for more reason.  The past several days, I’ve not felt the best, so a day to rest was more than welcomed.  Unfortunately, tomorrow is back to work and back on long hours too.  Ugh.

The good news is that I’m feeling a bit better, though not 100 yet.  It is spring and the pollen is in the air, so maybe that is to be expected.  We’ll just see how next week goes.  Hopefully, all the vitamin C that I’ve been taking will carry me through.

That’s really about all that’s happening.  Work and more work.  It’s a good thing I’ve got all of this coffee to get me through it.  A full weekend is coming, hopefully soon.  Until that happens, I’ll continue to work and drink lots of coffee.

So wish me luck.  You guys have a great week!  I’ll see you in a bit.  God bless.

Let’s see what Ms. K has in store for us today. Ms. K, is my Keurig machine and the closest thing I’ll probably ever have to a personal barista.  That’s okay though, well make do.

If we were having coffee, you could pick whatever you like out of the little tray sitting beneath Ms. K, or just have her pour a cup of hot water and drop in a tea bag. She’s versatile like that. I picked up a fresh box of green tea with raspberry the other day. It’s a great alternative to coffee when that doesn’t fit the mood, and though rare, it happens.

So where to begin?  I told you last week that work was crazy this month, and it still is, but things are beginning to slow a bit. The light is beginning to show a little twinkle there, way down at the end of the tunnel. Maybe we can get out of this dark hole if work, sleep, work, sleep soon. Every day that passes is a step in that direction.

Next week brings scheduled 8 hour days and the possibility of an off day on the weekend. That’s all good, considering spring break is upon us, so there should be lots to do, un-work related stuff even. Yay!

We’ll make the most of our evenings, I’m sure, but as of now, we have little of plans. That’s okay though. Playing things by ear, sounds like plan enough for me.

One thing that is exciting about going back to eights and therefore allowing a bit more sleep is the possibility of getting back to a somewhat normal training routine. I’ve fallen behind over the last month and need to catch up. I have visions of training sessions in my mind, and long runs, breathing fresh outside air. Oh, the glory of it all!  I can’t wait.

Well, I suppose I should let you go. Thanks for stopping by and chatting. We should do this more often. Matter of fact, let’s just go ahead and set it up for next weekend. See you then!

Til next time, have a great week, and God bless.

If we were having coffee, tonight I’ll be drinking from the Keurig and trying to keep my eyes open long enough to finish the cup. Just ignore that big ‘ol yawn and fix a cup of whatever we have in the tray. Your choice.

March 6th was my last off day. We spent it driving home from Atlanta, where we had run the Spartan Race the previous day. Now, it is the 20th and still a day off is but a distant dream. I would expect at least a few more weeks of this, so to say that in looking forward to that off day, whenever it may come, is a bit of an understatement.

Really though, the work itself isn’t bad. There is all the drama and confusion and mix-ups and things that go generally wrong for whatever reason, but that’s normal to some extent. The drama does seem higher than normal, but that is to be expected when people are spending so much time together. There’s only so much we can take of one another after all!

All this work is really putting a damper on my training however. It’s tough to work 10 to 16 hours everyday and still find the energy to train. I’m not saying impossible, just tough. The only solace I take is that my job is somewhat physical. I walk a lot, including up and down stairs many trips a day, and have the opportunity to carry things while doing it. While it may not be a proper workout, at least I’m not sitting all day. So that’s something.

I hope you had a great weekend.  Thanks for stopping by for coffee. (Or whatever that is in your cup there.) It’s about time to get some shut-eye for me, so I’m turning in. Feel free to fix another if you’d like. I regret my inability to have another with you, but as they say, “it is what it is.”

‘Til next time, God bless and have a great week!
