It was  May of 2016 that I posted my last #weekendcoffeeshare.  That was when I pretty well quit blogging and writing all at the same time.  Well, maybe not quit.  Let’s just say that it was time for a break.

Making Marks

It’s the little things we so often take for granted. Those little things add up to big things over time though.

With that in mind, I sat a couple hours last night marking on a big sheet of paper with several different tools that we probably take for granted on any given day. Eight different pencils, conte crayons, charcoal, ball point pen, and dip pens.

Learning to Draw (better)

We can all, I believe, improve.  Even those who have achieved mastery at one art or another will tell you that there is always room to improve.  That’s why I’m relearning the basics of drawing.  Not that I ever came close to mastering them in the first place.

“Drawing School  The Complete Course” by Ian Simpson

The plan is to work through this book, revisiting some old techniques and learning new ones along the way, ultimately becoming a better artist.  I’ll be posting some of my work along the way.  (try not to laugh too much)  It will take some time, but if all goes well, it will be worth the investment.

IDK

It sounds bad, I know. I’ll be the first to say it,  but it’s true. I really have no idea what I’m doing.

This blog/site was started not even a year ago with all the hopes and dreams that often come with a new blog, but now I’m not sure about anything. I’ve already thought about, and went around halfway through a redesign, and now, here we are again.

The question of what should I do is always there, and so is my reply. I don’t know.

Being this indecisive is frustrating.  For myself if not for anyone else. (It’s not like I have legions of fans waiting for the next post after all.)

So, the question remains, rolling around in my head.  Over the past month or so, as I’ve kicked it back and forth between deletion of the blog altogether and a complete reboot, I may have found a compromise.

What is this compromise?  Well let me say upfront, that it may not be a good idea.  But here it is.  The idea is to just be a bit more general in posting and therefore granting much needed freedom for creativity and general interest.

Most everything I read about blogging says to pick a topic and stay with that chosen topic for you’re blog. Target that audience. That is most likely very sound advice, but it is advice that I struggle with.

You see, I’m like most everyone else out there. My interest are many and varied. I like to write and draw. I also like to run and ride bikes. I have interest in fitness, clean eating, and dessert. You see what I’m getting at?  I feel as though I’ve been handcuffing myself, by restricting the things that I’m writing about, so I’m done with that.

I’m going to try this again. We’ll see how it goes. If it fails, then so be it. (To be clear, failure is not defined by page views, but by my own ability to keep interest in the work I’m doing.) There will most likely be some aesthetic changes to the sight as this process needs to be as fluid as possible, so be on the lookout for that.

Anyway, with a bit of luck, we’ll be talking soon!
