#WeekendCoffeeShare – A Day In

cropped-cappuccino-on-table

It’s not often I get a day in.  A day to relax, write, play the ole guitar, and let my introvert flag fly high.  Inside… where no one can see it.

Today has been that day.  It was nasty this morning, so I got a decent workout in, took the trash off, put on a pot of coffee, and settled in.  Oh, coffee.  That was rude of me.  There’s a pot there in the kitchen, freshly brewed and ready to drink.  If coffee’s not your thing, there’s tea, water, or milk.  Help yourself!

Now that we’ve got  Thanksgiving behind us, I guess it’s time to look forward to Christmas.  Christmas already!  It’s hard to believe.  There is a local radio station that has been playing Christmas music for weeks now, and I just don’t understand it.  That should be saved to at least the week before, but I suppose there’s a market for it.  I don’t get it, but anyway. #weekendcoffeeshare: Post Christmas, Pre New Year

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I missed my morning coffee, but that’s okay.  There’s a pot brewing now.  Won’t you join me for a cup?  Anyway, let’s talk!

I hope that you all had a very Merry Christmas!  We did, despite not feeling too well through most of the week.  Both my daughter and I felt ill right up until Christmas, but now we’re doing okay.  Perhaps we ate the sickness away.

It’s good to have Christmas behind us now, and we can look forward to maybe a little bit of less-busy time.  That would be nice.  I know that many of you will probably stay pretty busy right through the new year, and all I can do is wish you luck with that.  I plan to spend my new year’s right here at home, maybe with a nice cup of coffee and some good college football on the tele.

Speaking of the college football playoff, who do you want to win?  Do you even care?  I’m in the not caring much camp, but I will say that Clemson is the rival of the team that I pull for, so I won’t really be rooting for them.  That being said, I won’t really be pulling against them, at least not at first.  By the end, who knows.  I’ve tried to stay neutral on Clemson in the past, but it’s hard not to pull against a team dressed like that.  (All that orange!)

This past week did carry me beyond the 1,000 days writing on The Magic Spreadsheet.  You know, I thought I’d be pretty pumped on that, but honestly, I’m still in a bit of a writing funk.  I can’t explain why, it just is, and I’m trying to write my way through it.  Maybe I can figure something out in the new year.  If I can’t, I’m not sure how much longer I’ll last.

As for tonight, I think I should do a bit of reading and relaxing.  It’s back to work tomorrow after all, so I’m taking advantage of the little time left.  You guys have a great week and if I don’t see you before, Happy New Year!

Merry Christmas!

It’s late on Christmas Eve.  In just over an hour and a half, Santa will be flying his reindeer pulled sleigh all over the east coast, dropping off gifts and eating cookies that go great with ice cold milk.  He’ll have a lot of sit-ups to do in the new year!

Anyway, I just wanted to say that I hope your holiday season is going great and that it continues to do just that.  My Christmas Eve didn’t go quite as planned, but that’s okay.  There was one of those emergency things at work, and “vacation interrupted,” at least for about six hours.  No big deal though.  That’s behind us now and the festivities lie ahead.

On the way to work, I managed to tune in a station that wasn’t playing Christmas music and listened to some good Christmas advice from the great Rolling Stones.  A song that applies to this time of year, more than some would have thought maybe.  They sang, “you can’t always get what you want.  No, you can’t always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you might find, you get what you need.”  So bear that in mind as you give and receive your gifts on the morrow.  If what you unwrap isn’t what you wanted, be thankful that you had someone that thought enough about you to get you something in the first place.

That’s all I’ve got.  Y’all have a great Christmas and as always, stay safe out there.  I’ll see you soon.

#WeekendCoffeeShare -Christmas and Star Wars

If we were having coffee, I’m having instant again tonight.  There was a large cup of Starbucks consumed on the way home from the race, but that wasn’t quite enough so instant it is.  I can fix you a cup real quick.  Really, it’s quick.  Almost instant even!  There’s also green tea if you prefer.  Outside of that, it’s pretty much just water here.  Anyway, let’s talk about it.

Christmas vacation has officially started.  Yay!  If all goes well, I won’t think about much less see work until next Monday rolls around.  Today, my daughter and I raced the dirt bikes around and boy am I tired.  That’s okay though.  I’m going to drink some coffee and go to bed late, knowing that I can get that sweet sweet sleep in the morning.

I’m looking so forward to sleeping in tomorrow that it’s worth staying up late just to insure that it will happen.  After sleeping in though, tomorrow gets even more interesting.  That’s right, tomorrow we’re going to check out this Star Wars thing.  From what I understand, the Force took a nap or something, and now it has awoken.  As a long time Star Wars fan, it’s good to know that the Force isn’t gone for good.  I don’t know about you, but I’m still hoping for a real life light saber at some point before I die.  (fingers crossed)

Hope you guys have a great Christmas week.  If you’re off like me, have fun and be careful out in the Christmas craziness out there.  There will be many last minute shoppers zooming about out there to be sure.   We’ll probably be one of them, so look out for us.  Star Wars first though.  May the Force be with you all this week.  Thanks for stopping by.  See you next week, if not before.

#weekendcoffeeshare 12-13-15

If we were having coffee, I would be eating these little pretzel goldfish too. They go great with the coffee.  Won’t you have some?  I’ve got milk and sugar if you like that sort of thing and green tea if you are in the mood for something different. Either way, relax a bit and we can talk.

I missed last week’s coffee share. It was a traumatic thing, but a busy, busy weekend kind of forced my hand. Even with all the busy though, I managed to write somewhere just north of 250 words in order to keep the Magic Spreadsheet trucking along.  I’m just over 990 days now.  Yay!!

This weekend hasn’t been much better in terms of busy and it’s even been worse in some respects.  See, this week has seen me spend way too many hours at work, both Saturday and Sunday, while last weekend was spent busy but doing what I wanted. So last weekend wins out, hands down.

I am however thankful for that job even though it takes lots of time from what I would rather do. Without it, I fear that those things that I would rather do would go undone.

Anyway, one more week of work and I’ll take a week off for the Christmas holiday. It can’t come soon enough. There is so much I want to do, and though I know in advance that it won’t all get done, I’ll give it a shot. I hope you have some time put aside for the holidays as well.

Well, I’ve better go. My goldfish are gone, and it’s time for bed.  Gotta rest up for work tomorrow.  Just five more days this week!  Thanks for stopping by. I’ll see you next time!

#weekendcoffeeshare – Post Thanksgiving

If we were having coffee, you’d probably tell me that it’s late and that I should probably be getting to bed soon.  To that, I would reply with an audible sigh and a shrug of my shoulders before saying, “yes, I know.”

So, I’m having instant again tonight.  It was almost hot cocoa, but coffee won out.  I can get you either if you would like or maybe you would like something colder.  Pretty sure there’s some ginger ale in the fridge.

You see, the fact that I should be in bed doesn’t bother me too much.  Not right now anyway.  Tomorrow morning, that may change.  That’s when I’ve got to go back to work.  My first day back since Tuesday after taking off for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Thanksgiving was a mixed bag, but aren’t all holidays.  All of them that require time spent with large groups of people, be they family or not.  Being around that many people can be taxing on a little ole introvert like me, but we all managed to get through the day without killing one another.  We’ll get to try again next year though, and it’ll be here before you know it.

Being off of work was the best though.  We spent some time at the beach after Thanksgiving, where I was able to wake up and run in the sand with the waves just right there, crashing at my feet.  That won’t happen again for a while.  I swear, if I lived on the beach, I’d be out there running almost everyday.  At least until I’m too old to do it.  I know that day’s coming, but I’m gonna fight it every step of the way.  What else can I do?

With December just a day or two away, we’ll have to start gearing up for Christmas.  Another of those holidays that tries all of our introvert nerves out there.  We can persevere though.  I know that we can make it through.  Stay strong my introverted friends.  There are quiet days ahead.
