#WeekendCoffeeShare – Less than Motivated

cappuccino on table

If we were having coffee, I’d offer you a nice hot cup of Seattle’s Best, fresh brewed right here.  I’ll take mine black and strong, but I’ve got some milk if you would like, and for sweetness, we have local honey.  I may just doctor up a second cup with milk and honey in a few, just to see what all the fuss is about.  We also have tea, and the always good water if you would prefer that.

For music tonight, we have Alanis Morissette singing her moody tunes not too loud to interfere with good conversation.  I always liked her music, except for that last album we bought, but I can’t remember its name.  Regardless, she put out multiple albums that I can sing-a-long to. The fact that her music moved away from me at some point, is immaterial. Good is good is good. Continue reading “#WeekendCoffeeShare – Less than Motivated”

#WeekendCoffeeShare – Running Behind, but Running All The Same

cappuccino on table

If we were having coffee, I’d say that I didn’t really know what to say.  Then I’d offer you a nice cup ‘o joe and we could laze about, sipping coffee and talking about things.  Of course, if coffee is not your thing, I could offer you some tea, milk, or water.  We drink mostly water here, but there are occasions where other things are drank.  Other things like coffee, which is consumed daily, at least when I’m around.

I’ve spent the last two weeks in NC.  The first was vacation, the second was work.  The two trips were about as opposite as they could have been.  The first was in the mountains, while the second was on the coast, and of’course there is the difference of fun versus work.  Not that all the work was bad, it just wasn’t vacation.

#WeekendCoffeeShare – Getting Older

cappuccino on table

If we were having coffee, we’d be sipping the dregs here at the hotel.  It’s not good, or hot, and so I’m skipping the coffee tonight.  We could run to the Starbucks down the street, but if it’s all the same to you, I think I’ll stick here until you get back.  I’m pretty tired.  And yes, you’re right that coffee would probably help with that, I’m just not motivated enough to go get it.

We ran the Spartan Race today, and it was a tough, wet, muddy course here in Asheville.  Honestly, we’ve run tough, wet, muddy courses before, but today I suffered. (more than normal)  I am getting older, so maybe that’s what it is.  I have been nursing a couple of nagging injuries, so that could have contributed as well, but whatever it is, I’m sure I don’t like it.  There is another race tomorrow, but after today, I think I’ll be laying out.  My daughter will still be racing, and I will cheer her on.  That’s the plan, though it is a sad one.

Oh, can we go back to Starbucks and their coffee for a minute.  Sorry about that, I’m just sitting here, and one of my pains is related to just that, so I thought I’d mention it.  Think about this, you go by the Starbucks in the morning when their coffee is fresh and hot, get a nice large cup of black coffee and head down the road.  Then, picking the cup up from the top because the cup holder is built low in the console, you spill the whole thing in your lap.  Ouch!  I like hot coffee, but I’ll admit to wishing it was a little cooler that morning.

So I’ll spectate tomorrow, apply antibiotic ointment to my burns and cheer on my daughter!  Sounds like a good day.

Hope you all have a good week and are able to keep your coffee in your cup until you are ready to drink it!

#WeekendCoffeeShare – Running Behind

cappuccino on table

If we were having coffee, I tell you that I am running behind this week.  I keep telling myself that it’s okay, but to be honest, I don’t like it.  The weekly #FridayFictioneers post isn’t done, and the same can be said of the coming week’s episode of Warriors.

But it’s Saturday morning now, and there’s coffee to be had.  I’ve got a fresh pot of Seattle’s Best just a room away, eggs cooked in a coffee cup, and Counting Crows playing in the background.  Things are near perfect!  Can I get you some coffee?  There’s tea if you prefer or water.  As for me, the need for caffeine is real this morning.

Work got me behind this week.  We were holding a class, an informal one but still, the requirements of a week of class being what they are, well it wears on a person.  The waking an hour early every morning is the worst, as the early morning has never been a friend of mine.  That combined with the always on feeling, even during lunch, can get a little extra tiring for an introvert such as myself.  (Sometimes you just need 30 minutes with the door closed.)  I love my job though, so I’m learning to deal with the early mornings and trying to get my recharge time when I can.

Time for another cup?  I think I will get one too.

The only thing to report on the writing front this week is Episode 4 of Warriors.  Hopefully, I’ll have a #FridayFictioneers posted before days end, but to be honest, looking at the day ahead of me, I can see it happening and not at the same time.  Tomorrow at the worst I should think.

At least the week didn’t stop me from making progress in my reading.  The ride to work is spent listening to the Bible on Audible and though my mind drifts some in the early morning, thoughts of the day or the day before coming unbidden, I feel this time is a benefit.  Throughout the day while eating or some such, I’m always able to catch a few pages of a book stored on the phone.  (real reading here, not listening)  I’m in the 4th book of The Dark Tower series by Stephen King, Wizard and Glass.  The horrible movie almost turned me away from the series, but I’m glad I stuck in there.  As the series has rolled on, it has picked up speed and is now rolling along at a breakneck pace.  I always look forward to the snatched away minutes that I spend in that universe.  The ride home is back to Audible.  This time for the 2nd series that I’m currently engrossed in.  This series is The Demon Cycle by Peter V. Brett.  I’m in the middle of The Desert Spear right now.  Unfortunately, I fell asleep while it played last night.  Now I’ve got to find my place again.

My running is still a sore spot for me.  To be more specific, the sore spot is my right hip.  It doesn’t seem to matter what I do, it just won’t get better, (I’ve got ice on it right now) and there’s a race next weekend.  Ugh!  All I can do is see how it goes, but I’ve got a pretty good idea how that will be.  After next weekend, I’ll probably find myself at the chiropractor.  Something I’ve never done, but it seems to have helped my daughter, so I’m ready to bite the bullet and give it a try.

That’s enough about my week.  How was yours?  Tell me down in the comments or write your own coffee share post!  It’s all in fun, and we have quit a nice little community here that seems welcoming to all!

#WeekendCoffeeShare – Nothing to See Here

cappuccino on table

If we were having coffee, we’d be sitting right here at home, sipping some Seattle’s Best, listening to Smashing Pumpkins, and thinking that it would be a really good idea to just head off to bed.  In any case, we have some coffee in the pot, water in the spigot, and some tea bags that can be steeped in said water so we’re all set!

If feels like last week was a busy one, but looking back on it, I’m not real sure why.  There was work, but that was about it.  I got a few miles in, but not that many, and so on and so forth.  It was a good week, but nothing that should have been too tiring until possibly Saturday morning when I got up at 3:30 am to head into work early with plans on leaving early in return.  That worked out, but not without paying for it a bit.  Early mornings normally bring on tired nights and this one was no exception.  By the time we hit out 7:25 movie time (Skyscraper), I was yawning all over the place but managed to stay awake for the movie.  Afterwards though, it was off to bed for a good ten hours! #WeekendCoffeeShare – Palmerton

cappuccino on table

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I hurt, and that I’m ready to be home again.  We should make it home today sometime, but I’m not sure when I’ll stop hurting.  This morning we’d be sitting in the Hampton Inn as the rest of the family snoozes a few more minutes, drinking there coffee, juice, tea, what have you, before we head back out on the road.  I’ve just got to be careful not to drink too much, considering that we’ll be on the road and all.

It feels like we’ve been on the road for forever.  Leaving Thursday after work to head towards Palmerton Pennsylvania, we made it as far as Richmond Virginia.  Then the next day, we continued, hitting all kinds of traffic and pushing what should have been 5 to 6 hours to more like 8.  But we made it.  Then we ate and slept, got up early, and ran the Spartan Super at the Blue Mountain Ski Resort Saturday.  (That’s where all the hurt came in.)  Continue reading “#WeekendCoffeeShare – Palmerton”

#WeekendCoffeeShare – I’m Awake

cappuccino on table

If we were having coffee, I’d say good morning, or is it good day by 11?  Either way, I’m just crawling out of bed here on a beautiful Saturday.  Today, we have coffee, fresh brewed Seattle’s Best, Stoked Iced Coffee, green tea if that’s your thing, and of course water.  I’ll be sipping the Seattle’s Best and probably putting another pot on since I’ve powered through this first one already!

It was my intent to have coffee with you last night, but after dinner I didn’t feel the best and was so tired, so after fighting it long enough to watch some World Cup in which I was falling asleep during, I gave in and went to bed.  Twelve hours later, I’m awake again, drinking coffee, listening to Alanis sing while writing, and I feel all the better for the rest.  Going to bed last night was a bit frustrating since the nighttime is normally my time to write or play, but I had a busy week and I suppose it finally caught up with me.
