#WeekendCoffeeShare – Looking Forward

cappuccino on tableIf we were having coffee, we’d be drinking instant.  Hey, it’s that or water.  Nothing against water, but this is the #WeekendCoffeeShare, so…  So I’ll get a cup of that mentioned water in the microwave, and we can get to talking.

We had a good race in Fayetteville Spartan Super this morning.  It was my best time in a Super so far, finishing the 8.3 mile course which held 27 obstacles in 1:49:44.  Of course I would have liked to have been faster, but what racer wouldn’t.  All in all, it was a good run for me.

#WeekendCoffeeShare – 06-04-2017

If we were having coffee, I’d say that it has been a pretty good week!  Then I’d offer you some tea or maybe some water if coffee’s not your thing.  I’m sure we can rummage something up for you.

Daughter and I after the race!

As far as the week past, it was great.  I only had to work two days between getting home from Universal and our trip to Virginia for this weekend’s Spartan Super that we ran Saturday. Continue reading “#WeekendCoffeeShare – 06-04-2017”

coffee share picWhat a weekend!  If we were having coffee, we would have lots to talk about.  So grab a cup out of that fresh brewed pot on the counter and sit back.  I’ll turn on a bit of music.  Anything you feel like lstening to tonight?

There we are.  So, the weekend went well.  We made our first trip to Daytona Beach and even though we didn’t spend much time on the beach itself, it was cool.  What we did do was wake up early Saturday, drive to Bunnell, and race the Spartan Super there.  It was our first race in Florida and it went really well, with both my daughter and I finishing the course of about nine miles and 27 or so obstacles in 2 hours, 2 minutes, and some seconds.  She edged me out by about 20 seconds at the end of the day with a great running effort on her part.  I thought that it was really cool that we finished so close in time, considering we started about an hour apart.  I am so proud of her and the hard work she has put in to get to where she is now and the potential she still has for her future in the sport. If we were havIMG_20160408_194710083ing coffee, I’d apologize for my absence of late.  The bad thing is that I don’t even have a reason for it.  Or even an explanation.  Saying that night after night, week after week passed with opportunities to plop my but down and write, but I decided not to doesn’t seem like a reason or an explanation.  I’ll say that I was in a funk and leave it at that.

Anyhoo, it’s great to be here, sipping on what I’m calling a cappuccino.  The fact that it’s not a real cappuccino is almost irrelevant, as the milk is frothy, the coffee is strong, and there’s even a sprinkle of cinnamon on top.  Sounds like a real cappuccino doesn’t it? #weekendcoffeeshare – Overdoing it

IMG_20160408_194710083If we were having coffee, I would apologize for missing last week’s coffee share and commit to starting again fresh. Fresh, like this wonderful 8 O’clock Coffee that we’re sipping hot from the Ninja Coffee brewing thing. It’s a great little machine that occupies the space now vacated by the Keurig that once lived on the counter-top.

Speaking of last week’s coffee share, I should tell you that what happened was completely my fault. The weekend went something like this. It was the first weekend off (first day for that matter), in a few weeks. I was tired and not feeling the best, but I had high hopes for the weekend and all that I would do with it. Saturday morning would consist of a run and then the rest of the day I would get lots of stuff done, including my #weekendcoffeeshare.

If we were having coffee, tonight I would be drinking this Gevalia Cappuccino that I found the other day at the grocery.  That’s it in the pic above.  Yeah, I know that it’s not a real cappuccino, but that’s okay.  It’s really good and simple too.  Just pour some powder in the bottom of the cup, and let the Keurig do the rest.  Amazing!  You should give one a try, but if that’s not your thing, I’m sure we can hook you up with something.

So we’ve put yet another week of 2016 behind us, and are looking forward to the future ahead.  What’s that future hold?  Let’s see.

  1.  Work should be getting back to normal.  That means that I can start running and training the way I wish I could have over the past month.  The Spartan Super is coming fast, and I need to be ready for it.
  2. I’ll keep writing everyday.  So far, I’m up to somewhere north of 1000 days in a row on The Magic Spreadsheet.  That’s at least 250 words a day for over a thousand days.  I plan to keep that going.

That’s really all that’s on my list.  Oh, one other thing.  I signed this site up for the Amazon Affiliate Links program in order to monetize the site.  I don’t expect much from it, but it’s a great experiment and that’s one of the fun things about blogging.  The fun of experimenting.  So let’s see where it goes.  I promise that I won’t club you over the head with ads, and if things get annoying, they’ll stop.

With that said, I’ll let you go.  We’re going to watch “Fear The Walking Dead” and then head off to sleep.  Hope you guys have a great week!  Thanks for stopping by.  God bless!

#weekendcoffeeshare: 3-6-2016 Heading Home

We have acquired medals. Now we must return home.

What a weekend!  If we were having coffee, we would probably be talking about the Spartan Race that we either ran yesterday or that you were preparing to run today.  It seems as though everyone I saw this morning at the hotel was either wearing a finisher’s t-shirt or some sort of running gear in preparation to go get their’s.

So hotel coffee it is this morning.  They have regular and decaf as well as an assortment of hot teas, if that’s your thing, and juice.  Really not that bad.  I had coffee, raisin bran, then juice, then tea.  I couldn’t help myself.  When there is variety, I sample.

In just a bit we’ll be back on the road and shortly after that, back to the real world.  Oh, the real world.  The one that involves work and all the good and bad that goes with that.  Yes, there is good and bad.  More good than bad even, for without the work, I wouldn’t be able to do these things that I love.  So with that thought in mind, I will report to work, Lord willing, Monday morning and do my job until the next time we get to go adventuring.

One of the good things about heading home though is that I get to get back to training.  This Spartan was better on me than the last, but I still have vast room for improvement.  Work toward improving starts today and continues everyday.  I am my own competition and I will work to improve both on and off the course.

If we were having coffee, then you’ve undoubtedly got a drive ahead of you as well, seeing as you are here in the hotel with me.  So be safe out there on the roads, there are lots of crazy people out there.  Soon, there will be another.

Thank you for checking out my #weekendcoffeeshare.  Hope you all have a great day and productive week!
