#WeekendCoffeeShare – 2020-02-07

If we were having coffee, I’d say “Happy Friday to ya,” and we could sit around, sipping hot beverages and expounding on how great it is that the weekend is here. Tonight, I’m having a little bit of apple cider since I’ve already had quite a bit of coffee today, but no worries, I can hook you right up with a cup. Only takes a couple of minutes to brew a pot and we’ll be in business. There are other things as well. Hot cocoa, tea, and what-have-you. I’m sure we can come up with something.

Music from the Gin Blossoms is playing as we sip our drinks, Super Girl is playing now. It’s a live album and it’s on random, so who knows what’s next. If we don’t like it, we’ll skip ahead.

It’s been a good week, even if I barely ran at all. I’m in cautious mode with my calf again. I definitely don’t need it blowing up again. There were a couple of workouts during the week but nothing too taxing and no running. It kinda sucks.

I am 87% of the way through Code Zero by Jonathan Maberry and look to finish it up this weekend. Hopefully tomorrow, if not then Sunday and get the next book in the series, whatever that is. It doesn’t matter what it is, I’ll be reading these books until I’m at the end. The only thing is, is that I’m not sure the series is done. There’s at least nine books in the series, maybe more. I like reading long book series after they’re done to avoid the whole series unfinished thing that I suspect Game of Thrones is going to fall victim to. I know HBO finished it, but I never watched many of the shows and what I did watch was vastly different from the books so I can hope for the last book. Probably vain hope, but there is hope.

I started listening to The Red Knight by Miles Cameron on Audible. I’m about seven hours in, and I like it. There’s a lot to learn though. Creatures and whatnot, so I feel like reading the actual words would be better for that, but overall it’s been really good. There’s lots going on, and it’s really picking up steam, so I’m happy with the way I spent that credit!

Writing has been more good than bad this week. I don’t have a word count or anything like that but one night, working from some handwritten pages scratched out in the Starbucks, I typed close to a thousand words. There were other writings as well, including my 100 word story for #FridayFictioneers, Left and Right. So all things considered, I’m very happy with it.

As for tonight, I’m thinking about the guitar, maybe some reading, and if all that fails, there’s the 3rd season of The Expanse to start. I guess what I’m saying is that the writing is probably done for tonight, and the rest of this Friday night will be spent unwinding a bit. Sounds like a plan to me!

You are welcome to hang out. There’ll be some poor guitar picking in just a few minutes and maybe even some really bad singing. It’s a lot of fun.

Oh, I understand if you want to head out. I’ll not blame you for skipping out on my playing. Ha, if it wasn’t me playing, I’d probably skip out too!

Hope you have a great week! For other coffee shares, click here.

#WeekendCoffeeShare is an informal weekly link-up hosted now by Eclectic Alli that serves as something of a mind-dump for the week. If there are typos and what-not found here, I apologize, but mind-dump. I don’t do a lot of editing here as I like that it is more a stream of consciousness type post, normally written while drinking coffee, listening to music, and reflecting on the week gone by.

  1. I’ve been taking a break, this evening, from reading, and listening to some classical music on YouTube that I remember from my teens and twenties. Nice to revisit the music as well as the books. Best wishes for the weekend and for your recovery.

    1. Yeah, it’s frustrating too, when it’s been years and you don’t know if the book will ever come out. Oh well, I guess that’s one of the dangers of reading. I’ll risk it! Have a great week!

  2. Poor guitar picking and bad singing.. LOL That reminds me of that cat meme with the people in the background singing and playing guitar. “With your help, you can save these animals from folk music..” Or something to that degree. 🙂
