If we were having coffee, it would be iced coffee I got from the grocery this week as it’s already late and a whole pot of coffee would be overkill at this point. Yes it’s Friday night, and yes, I’ll be in the bed shortly. So I won’t be ODing on coffee tonight. Maybe tomorrow.
This is my first coffee share of the new year. Yay! I had a couple weeks there that I slacked off hard on the whole writing thing and re-evaluated my strategy and goals and decided to devote a little more time to sitting in front of the computer and actually trying to flesh out a few ideas a little better than I have been. I really want to get a longer piece of fiction done, but I’ve struggled having enough stick-to-it to get through something novel length. I tend to get lost in the middle and that stalls everything, so I’m going to try again while changing the approach slightly and see how it works. So far it’s going good. This is the third consecutive writing day I’ve strung together, so there’s that.
So maybe 2020 will be the year I get it done. If not, I’ll try again next year. It’s not a resolution or anything like that, just something I’m trying to do. Maybe the most important thing is to not take things too serious and take the fun out of the writing. If that happens I’ll be right back were I was, barely writing at all, frustrated about it, and grumpy.
I’ve also been reading a lot. Right now I’m listening to Kill the Queen by Jennifer Estep. I like the book but the voice actress isn’t my favorite. She’s growing on me though. I mean, I’m a good four hours into the book and still listening, so it’s obviously not bothering me that bad.
The series I’m really digging right now though is the one I’m reading on Kindle. The Joe Ledger books by Jonathon Maberry are just amazing page turners. I’m four books into the series (nearing the end of Assassin’s Code) and though I’ll admit having reservations early in book one, I just can’t get enough now. I have lost sleep and writing time to these books. Not even sorry about that either.
Everything else is still about the same, just in a new year. Still running as much as I can, writing as much as I can, and working. When those things aren’t happening I’m normally hanging out with the wife and young ‘un. That’s it, and it’s pretty grand.
So I’ll let you go. I’m pretty tired, so I’m going to lie down, but I will have that Kindle with me. I can’t help but wonder how much I can read being this tired. Guess we’ll have to wait and see.
Thanks for stopping by. Good night!
#WeekendCoffeeShare is an informal weekly link-up hosted now by Eclectic Alli that serves as something of a mind-dump for the week. If there are typos and what-not found here, I apologize, but mind-dump. I don’t do a lot of editing here as I like that it is more a stream of consciousness type post, normally written while drinking coffee, listening to music, and reflecting on the week gone by.
You can post your very own Weekend Coffee Share here!
Thanks for coffee; have a great week.

Hey Russel.
I find it almost too easy to curl up with my tablet and kindle app. Give me a decent mug of tea and a handy pot to refill from, and I’m out of everyone’s hair for hours. It’s my way of mainlining words straight through the brain.
I may have an addiction going here.
Maybe Kindle has a 12 step withdrawal manual I can read through – hmm?

As addictions go, that’s not a bad one!
