The moment the wheels stopped rolling, the RV door flew open and kids poured out like sands through an hourglass. They screamed and jumped, reveling in the freedom of open spaces and sunny skies.
Exhausted, Jan propped herself in the doorway. “You kids go play.”
They yipped and ran, playground bound, kicking up deep sandy footprints.
“Be back for dinner,” she called at their backs. “Don’t make me send your dad after you.”
Jan closed the door and collapsed on the couch. Dan turned from the instrument panel to look at her. “Dinner?”
“Yeah,” said Jan, “we’re ordering pizza tonight.”

Dear Russell,
We once took a road trip pulling a pop-up camper from Kansas City to Florida to go to Disney World and back again with 2 young boys in tow. (We had the foresight to leave their 2-year-old brother with his auntie). It was exhausting. I’m with Jan. You want dinner? Cook it yourself or order pizza. 😉 Good one.
Shalom,
Rochelle

I bet the kids were a handfull while they were driving, their overboarding energy jumps from the page. Pizza is a good choice.

Absolutely! No sense in letting the kids have all the fun.

I think it would be very tough to travel in an RV with a passel of kids. Pizza is the best remedy for that situation 🙂 Good story.

That’s the downside of vacations. Sometimes one needs a vacation from the vacation.
