#WeekendCoffeeShare – Merry Christmas!

If we were having coffee, I’d wish you a Merry Christmas or even a very generic Happy Holidays if you prefer while sipping some hot apple cider instead of my usual brew. I can brew up some coffee or tea for you if you’d like, or I could nuke some cider for you like I have for myself. It’s a good drink when the weather’s cold like it is now. I’m no fan of the cold, but I do like a good sipping hot beverage!

It’s been a mixed week for me. Monday kicked off and kicked my butt. I got some sort of sinus bug or some such that had me feeling puny until Wednesday, so there was a sipping of a different kind the first part of the week. Dayquil sipping is what I’m talking about. Not exactly a great start to the week.

On the plus side, I’m deep into reading/listening to two books now. Reading Jonathan Maberry’s “The King of Plagues” and listening to Brandon Sanderson’s Steelheart. They are very different experiences. “The King of Plagues” is the third book in the Joe Ledger series and it is packed jam full of action. These books are page turners that are hard to put down. “Steelheart” is a very different book than what I’m used to from Sanderson. It’s a YA book that is good, but not as good as what I’m used to from Sanderson, though to be fair, there’s not much out there that can hold a candle to “The Way of Kings” series. I’ve got to wait until November 2020 for another one of those though. Still, it has been hard to get out of the car to go into the house after listening to Steelheart on the way home lately.

As far as my own writing goes, I managed a 100 word story for Friday Fictioneers and then wrote another 300 words give or take on a longer story that I think I’ve got the last chapter sewn up. Now, if I could figure out exactly how my main character makes it to that last chapter, things will be swell.

I think tonight I’ll continue reading until my eyes close. Tomorrow, we’ve got a little more shopping to do, but I should be able to fit in a run either before or after. I hope so because my running this week has been nil with all the not feeling well and all. Now that I feel okay, I need to get some miles in. Other than that, my weekend’s pretty open. I hope to get a little more writing done as well and drink copious amounts of coffee and maybe some more cider. That sounds like a plan.

I’ll let you go, as you’re probably busy getting holiday stuff done. It seems to never end, but one way or the other, it will be over soon! So Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays and all that! Be safe out there, and I’ll see you next week!

The #WeekendCoffeeShare is an informal weekly link-up being hosted by Antoinette while Eclectic Alli is on hiatus. Check her out over on https://antoinettetrugliomartin.com/.

If you like, you can post your very own Coffee Share for this week here!

  1. Of all the things that the holidays bring, I think that curling up with a good book (heck – even a mediocre one) for a quiet 2+ hours read is one of my favorites.

Wishing you and your family a wonderful Christmas.
