If we were having coffee, I’d offer you up a cup of this nice Seattle’s Best coffee that I’ve been sipping for the past couple hours and welcome you into this big College Football Saturday. There’s coffee in the pot, taco soup on the stove, and it’s a great day to eat some good food and watch a little championship football.
Later tonight, after the SEC game, I may take a little break from football and watch the last episode of the the first season of The Expanse on Prime. I don’t really get into a lot of shows nowadays, but a while back I told my wife that I wanted a really good sci-fi show to watch, so we tried a couple things on the Sci-Fi channel but they weren’t that great so we’ve kicked them to the curb.
So far, The Expanse has been really good. I think there are four seasons on Prime so I’ve got a ways to go yet and hopefully the quality will stay good throughout. I’ve got high hopes.
It’s been a pretty good week. I got some good workouts in, a couple of good runs and a couple of crossfit style workouts as well. I’ve been happy with my running lately. I’ve cut the mileage down a bit in order to fit in some strength work in hopes that a more well rounded fitness will allow this old body avoid injury.
Ooh, soup’s ready! Let’s go get some.
Ah, that was delicious! My wife has outdone herself again, and again I ate too much.
Oh wow! This game’s going into overtime.
I also got some writing done this week, though I’m not sure how much. Maybe I should track that again. Maybe not. The writing that I did was not very focused stuff except for my Friday Fictioneers post. I’ve been searching for an idea that I want to pursue into something novel length, but I haven’t found anything that I think can hold my attention that long yet. Oh well, I’ll keep looking.
Oklahoma wins. Moving on to the SEC Championship now. I’ll probably feel guilty later about wasting all day watching football, but there’s only a couple of good football Saturdays left this year and since I’m not a big NFL fan, only a couple of good football weekends left so I guess I’ll take advantage of this one.
I have rambled on and on haven’t I? You probably are looking to get outta here and do some other things on your Saturday, but I’m not kicking you out. Stick around if you want, and we can sip coffee and watch some more football. Either way, thanks for stopping by, and if you’re heading out, have a great week!
#WeekendCoffeeShare is an informal weekly link-up hosted now by Eclectic Alli who is on hiatis until January, so Antoinette is filling in as host for now, that serves as something of a mind-dump for the week. If there are typos and what-not found here, I apologize, but mind-dump. I don’t do a lot of editing here as I like that it is more a stream of consciousness type post, normally written while drinking coffee, listening to music, and reflecting on the week gone by.
If you would like, you can post your very own Coffee Share for the week here!
It sounds very smart to incorporate different types of exercise into your routine. I’m guessing no snow here you live? Since you were out running. Enjoy your football, and thank yo for the coffee, and the soup was delicious!

No snow. It’s been mid 50s to mid 60s during the days and 30s or 40s at night, so pretty perfect running weather! Glad you stopped by! Have a great week!

Hey Russell. I think I’ve missed all the games, but that’s actually a good thing for me. I’d almost always prefer a great taco soup, maybe with a good dark beer (I know – this messes with convention – but it tastes soo good) and some good conversation about writing and even SciFi movies or shows. I couldn’t keep up with you in the exercise efforts, but I wouldn’t mind trying.
We could add a touch of maple syrup to our coffee for a nice new England spin and map potential stories to speculative technologies and yet to be harnessed laws of physics with frequent refreshes to that bowl of taco soup.

It would have been more productive for me had I skipped thee games as well, and believe it or not, my football watching has waned quite a bit over the last several years. Maybe one day, I’ll set the whole thing aside.
As far as conventions go, well we’ll just let them go. A good dark beer may be just the thing! It could maybe lube the gears of the mind needed for those speculative technologies and yet to be harnessed laws of physics.
Have a great week Gary!
