“It’s you! I’m your biggest fan. I’ve read all your thesis’s and theories. Brilliant! If you wouldn’t mind…”
“Sorry son, didn’t see you there.” Professor Land removed his glasses and rubbed his tired eyes, before looking the lad, a ball of barely contained energy, up and down. “I was quite lost in an enchanted forest when you found me, and want very much to return.”
The boy stood stunned and wide-eyed, not knowing how to react. At once, pleased to be acknowledged and miffed at being dismissed.
“Take a card and see me tomorrow. Office hours are on there. Goodnight.”

If only this was a problem I had to worry about thanks to my writing! But I imagine many will feel like this writer once they’ve had a bit of fame. Nice take.

I agree. Of all the problems I can have, I think this one wouldn’t be so bad. At least for a while. Thanks Iain!

Very true, and it is a shame. But at the same time, many people seem to feel if a person has achieved some level of fame, then that person owes them something. That’s not right either. I would imagine that famous people need their alone time sometimes just like the rest of us. Thanks for reading Keith!

I’m a bit torn here as I can see both sides. Mark of a good story is when it makes you think. 🙂

Professor Land does not entertain anyone after office hours. A little strict and stickler for rules, it seems.

Lost in a good book, being pulled away, that’s one thing a reader can’t stand. Great piece.

Thanks! It is tough being pulled out of a good book.

It would be nice to be famous–for a little while—I think?

I imagine it would get old after a while… but then; if he truly does not want to be disturbed, he should find a quieter place to read – like in his own home!
