Old Elroy had two passions in life. Music and woodwork. Oh, how he could tickle those ivories, and build the bench to sit on while doing it.
You know, he could have been famous playing that old piano. We told him to focus, but he would have none of it, being of two minds as he was.
And so, when the tablesaw took his fingers, the music died as well.
You can still see his piano though. He couldn’t sell it, even though his playing days were done. Turned it into a planter, he did.
Darndest thing I’ve ever seen.

Ouch, painful way to lose those fingers. I’m glad it hasn’t stopped him completely though!

Can’t keep a good man down, I guess.

Eek! Sorry he lost his fingers – but at least he didn’t lose his creativity.

That’s true. I guess he’s got to channel that energy somewhere.

Brilliantly done. And my husband used to work in a wood shop and one of the guys lost four fingers in a planer… a sound none of the employees who were there that day will EVER forget…

Thanks Dale! I’ve never done a lot of woodworking myself, but I’ve know folks who’ve lost digits to the saw. Not a good thing.

Yes… I know more than one, unfortunately…

We have this stupid joke here, guy holds up three fingers and orders five beer for the saw mill workers… we had a cabinet maker in the family and many of his colleagues lost parts of one or more fingers. Nevertheless, this is a cruel fate for the guy, and an excellent story.
