#WeekendCoffeeShare – Happy New Year

cropped-cappuccino-on-table

If we were having coffee, I would be having hot apple cider.  It’s good stuff. If you would like, I can get you a cup. Of course, I can put some coffee on, or heat some water for tea.  Whatever you like. Make yourself comfortable, relax, and watch a little football.

This week has been great!  I’ve been off, so that’s always good, and we’ve got Christmas behind us.  Christmas is great and all, but man, it can be work. So now, we can look forward to the new year.  2019!

What are you looking forward to in 2019?  Are you setting resolutions, and if so, how long until you break them?

I don’t do resolutions.

We saw Auqaman during the week.  I didn’t think much of it.  My wife liked it however.  Hmmm.  Oh well, it wasn’t a total loss, as the popcorn was good, but I expected more from such a big budget movie.  I at least thought it would have looked better.

I finished the sixth book in Stephen King’s “Dark Tower” series this week and started book seven, “The Dark Tower.”  The series has been great, and to think that I almost quit with these books after that horrible movie.  Whew, it just goes to show that you can’t judge a book by its movie.  Also, the second book in the Expeditionary Force series by Craig Alanson got wrapped up today on my way to pick up some food for the family.  I’m looking forward to book three, but I started listening to “Patient Zero” by Johnathan Maberry after that other book wrapped up.  It should be a good change of pace before heading back out to space.

I think I’m going to have to let you go.  This head of mine has been aching for a while now.  I’ve taken two pills already to no avail.  Maybe I’ll sit in the dark a while or something.  It’s sinuses, that much I know, and since the pills aren’t working, maybe the dark will.

Thanks for stopping by, and thanks to all those who have stopped by and shared coffee with me over the past year!  I’ll see you guys next year!

#WeekendCoffeeShare is an informal weekly link-up that serves as something of a mind-dump for the week.  If there are typos and what-not found here, I apologize, but mind-dump.  I don’t do a lot of editing here as I like that it is more a stream of consciousness type post, normally written while drinking coffee, listening to music, and reflecting on the week gone by.

It is hosted by Eclectic Alli. Check out her post for the week and maybe post a share of your own!

    1. I feel like it gets better throughout, and there are some of what I felt were unlikely tie-ins in the series that end up working as more and more is revealed.

That being said, I struggled through the first quarter of the 2nd book. After that, smooth sailing for me.

      Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Happy New Year my friend! I do like making resolutions, but only reasonable ones that I know I can keep. Challenging, but still doable. Christmas was good, but intense here as well. This weekend have been about catching up after it, sort of. Thanks for the cider!

  2. Hey Russell. What a crummy time to feel ill! I hope it passes quickly. Thanks for the thoughts on Aquaman. I was one of those kids who loved superhero comics, so movies about them always attract me.

About the quality of books that turn into movies, my teenage book chums and I had something of a saying about the history of a good story: It starts with a great book which is followed by a mediocre to bad movie which, if the movie sold enough seats, would be followed by a Mad Magazine satire that would make you laugh so much that you could easily forget about the mess the movie made.

    Happy new year!

    1. Thanks Gary! I’m feeling better now.

I’m one of those who likes to read the book before I see the movie. I guess that is the definition of a glutton for punishment, because I almost always leave disappointed.

Happy New Year to you and yours!

  3. Happy New Year, Russell. Sorry to hear you’re not well and hope you’re feeling better soon. I’m intrigued by the warm apple cider. Makes me think of Belgium. Too hot here for warming up anything. We’re cooling everything down.
    Best wishes,
    Rowena
