#WeekendCoffeeShare – Healing Up

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I was feeling better.  Not great, but better.  There’s coffee in the pot, so pour a cup and relax.  And great news, I don’t think I’m contagious at all this week!

The past week has been kinda sucky.  Last Saturday, my throat started hurting.  That stage passed by Monday, then came the sometimes stuffy, sometimes runny nose and sneezing, followed by the now present sinus drainage and coughing spells.  It was a good time!

If there is a bright side, it was all the rest, as I was sleeping more than should be allowed, and was still tired despite it all.  I can call this a bright side because, as you know, I’ve been a bit injured and taking it easy while healing is not my strong suit.

On the negative side, of which there are many, was my lack of production.  I’m referring to writing here.  November is on the way, and I started thinking of nanowrimo as it approached.  Never mind that I’ve never done it, I’ve got an idea to write on, and some of an outline done.  The fact that November is packed full of both work and personal obligations is making me reconsider, but hey, I may give it a go yet.  Even if I don’t finish, it’ll be a start on something, so we’ll see.  That outline should have fleshed out over this past week, but like I said, with the sick came the next to no production, so there’s that to deal with too.  If, and that’s a big if, I give nanowrimo a shot, it’ll be an uphill battle for sure.

How about you?  Are you giving nanowrimo a shot, and is it your first time or are you a nano veteran?  And if you are, how was your experience?

As for running, I’m going to give it a go next week.  It’s been 9 weeks now. so I’m hoping that will be enough.  The plan is to start out slow and short, and build speed and mileage in a slow controlled way.  Oh, and lots of foam rolling and massage to keep the calves from blowing up again.  That’s the plan anyway.

  1. Hey Russel – are you sure you don’t think it to be a good idea to start walking before running…? I’ve heard that injuries such as yours can take a long time to heal. Whatever you decide I hope you enjoy full return to normal.

    1. NaBloPoMo is a new one on me, but good luck with it! I fear my nanowrimo run is ending before it even started though as things have piled up. It will probably be better to plan it out better and come back next year. Have a great week!
