If we were having coffee, I’d offer you a cup from the freshly brewed pot just there in the kitchen, and warn you not to get too close. My throat started hurting last night, and even though I’ve medicated throughout the day, it’s still hurting. So, grab some coffee or something more to your liking, but don’t get too close.
We have football on the tv, but the sound is down to allow us to listen to some music. Right now, Alanis is singing “That I Would Be Good,” a nice relaxing but thought provoking tune.
Last week was a full one at work with early mornings and long days, but it was a good week all the same. We were teaching a class on location, so there was driving to and from, hotel living, and out to eat every night. Not all bad things, but definitely out of the realm of normal.
I made several trips to the ole hotel gym last week, and during one of them, I noticed the “Rules of Use” sign that hangs above the towel shelf. Some of the advice there is fair and good I suppose, but the very last one had me shaking my head. I snapped a picture and posted it up on Insta several days later. The last rule stated, “Do not over exercise. Discontinue use at first signs of stress.” I’ve obviously been doing this exercise thing all wrong!
I did a bit of writing in the hotel. Not as much as I would have liked, but that is the same as every week ever. I worked on the Warriors serial, continued outlining a new project (maybe it can be a nanowrimo project, which I’ve never done before), and wrote a 100 word story for #FridayFictioneers titled “First Job.” Let me tell you, when I wrote that little 100 word story, I didn’t expect the response I received. I still can’t believe it, but I appreciate it all. Some people didn’t like the ending, some loved it. I can see both sides of the argument and am just happy to have written something that stirred so many to comment. With my responses, there are 36 comments so far!
I feel as someone who is trying to write good “stuff,” that it is good to get varying views on my work. It’s a learning thing, and also an affirmation not to take what any one person says too much to heart. Different people like different things. There are those out there that don’t like some of the giants of fiction, so why would I be any different?
I suppose I’ll let you go now. I would like to say that I was planning to sit here and write for a while, but I’m not sure that’s going to happen tonight. Maybe I’ll start feeling a little more motivated after a refill, but I may just lay down.
Hope you have a great week and that you didn’t catch anything from me. See you next week!
#WeekendCoffeeShare is an informal weekly link-up that serves as something of a mind-dump for the week. If there are typos and what-not found here, I apologize, but mind-dump. I don’t do a lot of editing here as I like that it is more a stream of consciousness type post, normally written while drinking coffee, listening to music, and reflecting on the week gone by.
It is hosted by Eclectic Alli. Check out her post for the week and maybe post a share of your own!
