#WeekendCoffeeShare – Getting Older

If we were having coffee, we’d be sipping the dregs here at the hotel.  It’s not good, or hot, and so I’m skipping the coffee tonight.  We could run to the Starbucks down the street, but if it’s all the same to you, I think I’ll stick here until you get back.  I’m pretty tired.  And yes, you’re right that coffee would probably help with that, I’m just not motivated enough to go get it.

We ran the Spartan Race today, and it was a tough, wet, muddy course here in Asheville.  Honestly, we’ve run tough, wet, muddy courses before, but today I suffered. (more than normal)  I am getting older, so maybe that’s what it is.  I have been nursing a couple of nagging injuries, so that could have contributed as well, but whatever it is, I’m sure I don’t like it.  There is another race tomorrow, but after today, I think I’ll be laying out.  My daughter will still be racing, and I will cheer her on.  That’s the plan, though it is a sad one.

Oh, can we go back to Starbucks and their coffee for a minute.  Sorry about that, I’m just sitting here, and one of my pains is related to just that, so I thought I’d mention it.  Think about this, you go by the Starbucks in the morning when their coffee is fresh and hot, get a nice large cup of black coffee and head down the road.  Then, picking the cup up from the top because the cup holder is built low in the console, you spill the whole thing in your lap.  Ouch!  I like hot coffee, but I’ll admit to wishing it was a little cooler that morning.

So I’ll spectate tomorrow, apply antibiotic ointment to my burns and cheer on my daughter!  Sounds like a good day.

  1. Being a spectator while you heal isn’t a bad thing, you certainly wouldn’t want to push yourself and end up with a worse or permanent injury. You should pat yourself on the back for getting out their in the first place! Anyway, hope you feel better soon.

  2. This system needs an [ empathy] or [ sympathize ] button because [ Like ] simply does not fit.
    Sounds like a crummy day all around and I hope it got better as the running pains settled down. Ouch on the coffee burns too. . . At some point, one just has to stand down on the day and stay away from sharp or hot objects. :-/

    1. Luckily, the coffee burns were early in the week and have partially healed.

      As for the running, that will probably take more time to get over. I don’t heal as fast as I used to. ( ps. I probably won’t quit running, just slack off a bit. It may not be wise, but eh…)
