#WeekendCoffeeShare – Running Behind

cappuccino on table

If we were having coffee, I tell you that I am running behind this week.  I keep telling myself that it’s okay, but to be honest, I don’t like it.  The weekly #FridayFictioneers post isn’t done, and the same can be said of the coming week’s episode of Warriors.

But it’s Saturday morning now, and there’s coffee to be had.  I’ve got a fresh pot of Seattle’s Best just a room away, eggs cooked in a coffee cup, and Counting Crows playing in the background.  Things are near perfect!  Can I get you some coffee?  There’s tea if you prefer or water.  As for me, the need for caffeine is real this morning.

Work got me behind this week.  We were holding a class, an informal one but still, the requirements of a week of class being what they are, well it wears on a person.  The waking an hour early every morning is the worst, as the early morning has never been a friend of mine.  That combined with the always on feeling, even during lunch, can get a little extra tiring for an introvert such as myself.  (Sometimes you just need 30 minutes with the door closed.)  I love my job though, so I’m learning to deal with the early mornings and trying to get my recharge time when I can.

Time for another cup?  I think I will get one too.

The only thing to report on the writing front this week is Episode 4 of Warriors.  Hopefully, I’ll have a #FridayFictioneers posted before days end, but to be honest, looking at the day ahead of me, I can see it happening and not at the same time.  Tomorrow at the worst I should think.

At least the week didn’t stop me from making progress in my reading.  The ride to work is spent listening to the Bible on Audible and though my mind drifts some in the early morning, thoughts of the day or the day before coming unbidden, I feel this time is a benefit.  Throughout the day while eating or some such, I’m always able to catch a few pages of a book stored on the phone.  (real reading here, not listening)  I’m in the 4th book of The Dark Tower series by Stephen King, Wizard and Glass.  The horrible movie almost turned me away from the series, but I’m glad I stuck in there.  As the series has rolled on, it has picked up speed and is now rolling along at a breakneck pace.  I always look forward to the snatched away minutes that I spend in that universe.  The ride home is back to Audible.  This time for the 2nd series that I’m currently engrossed in.  This series is The Demon Cycle by Peter V. Brett.  I’m in the middle of The Desert Spear right now.  Unfortunately, I fell asleep while it played last night.  Now I’ve got to find my place again.

My running is still a sore spot for me.  To be more specific, the sore spot is my right hip.  It doesn’t seem to matter what I do, it just won’t get better, (I’ve got ice on it right now) and there’s a race next weekend.  Ugh!  All I can do is see how it goes, but I’ve got a pretty good idea how that will be.  After next weekend, I’ll probably find myself at the chiropractor.  Something I’ve never done, but it seems to have helped my daughter, so I’m ready to bite the bullet and give it a try.

That’s enough about my week.  How was yours?  Tell me down in the comments or write your own coffee share post!  It’s all in fun, and we have quit a nice little community here that seems welcoming to all!

#WeekendCoffeeShare is an informal weekly link-up that serves as something of a mind-dump for the week.  If there are typos and what-not found here, I apologize, but mind-dump.  I don’t do a lot of editing here as I like that it is more a stream of consciousness type post, normally written while drinking coffee, listening to music, and reflecting on the week gone by.

It is hosted by Eclectic Alli. Check out her post for the week and maybe post a share of your own!

  1. You have a lot of things going on. At times in my life when I’ve found myself commuting a lot, I’ve treasured audio books. It feel s like you’re actually doing yourself a favor (growing by listening to awesome books,) instead of getting aggravated by the loss of time. You’re on to something good here!

I hate to be, or write negative stuff, I’m a very positive person. Sometimes annoyingly positive according to some people. If you honestly want to know how my week was? Well, it was one of the worst in my life. I thought that I was going to die on several occasions. Literally. Which is as far from my usual zen filled life as one can be. It all started last Sunday when I got attacked by some devilish yellow jackets, and got a bad reaction to that. It was awfully scary. I still feel somewhat a little weaker than usual.
Then a horrible fire burned down half of my town. Almost half. The center of the fire was ten minutes from my house yesterday. It’s raining ash, and the smoke makes it hard to breathe. I’ve been wearing a mask inside my house! The fire is still out of control, but are moving away from me. It is, as of the past two hours, a little easier to breath. There you have it! Several friends lost their houses. The community is in shock. I have no words, and it is difficult to think clear. I promise you that I’ll be more positive next week. Deal?

    1. Oh wow! You have been through a lot lately. I’ve never had a reaction to a sting like that, but I’ve seen people in races stung, with nothing they could do but wait for an epi-pen. Scary stuff!

I hope that fire gets outta town too! Some weeks are better than others, and some weeks just SUCK!!! Sounds like that’s what you’re going through now.

I hope it gets better soon and that the next week is full of easy breathing and good times!

  3. Hi Russell, I too tried the Bible on tape (okay, it was that long ago when I tried it) and found it simply did not keep my attention. For the Bible, I have to have a hard book in hand. I’ve been recovering from a small back surgery and am using my recovery time to work my way through a new ESV Bible I got just last year for Christmas. Given, I’m not allowed to do much – I’ve made great progress through it.

I’ve taught lots of work related classes and yes, they take much more time than most folks would guess. I love doing it anyway. I’ll bet your classes are worth the time and impact on everything else you’re into.

Thanks for stopping by. i always enjoy your shares.
    Regards,
