#WeekendCoffeeShare – So, so tired…

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you how tired I really am right now.  Then, I’d offer you a cup of this fine (not really) hotel coffee.  That’s all I really have right now, other than water.  It’s good water though.  So for that, I apologize.  There’s got to be a coffee shop around here somewhere, but again, tired.  And that bed is right there and, well, you know.

We ran a Spartan Super today, and let me tell you, there was some suffering going on out there.  Out weather has been mild lately, but today was nothing but hot.  Mid 90’s and humid turned what looked to be a good race into a struggle.

All was good, not great, at the 5 mile mark.  By the sixth mile the cramps came on hard, and they didn’t quit.  Not even after the race was done at about 8.5 miles.  You could say that it was a tale of two races.  There for a while, I thought that I would have a great, maybe my best, race ever despite not feeling my running legs early.  Then the last bit, when it all fell apart.

Since the race ended, I’ve hydrated like a madman.  We race again tomorrow after all, and it would be nice to do it without the cramps.  I’m not confident.  Tomorrow’s race is a Sprint so it won’t be as long.  So that’s good.  It should come in somewhere between 3 to 5 miles, and if I’m lucky, cramp free.

I do appreciate you stopping by!  But unfortunately, I’m going to put my head on that pillow over there, so I’ll see you next week if not before.  Have a great week everyone!

#WeekendCoffeeShare is an informal weekly link-up that is now hosted by Eclectic Alli. Check out her post for the week and maybe post a share of your own!

  1. Hey Russell. My name is Gary Wilson & I’m very pleased to find you here. I’m new to this coffee chat club thing and was beginning to think that it was going to be me and Trent and all the gals. Not a bad thing really, but I’m already happily married and am just looking for literate and writing friends.

I invite you to read my coffee chat for this week. I’m under the link that starts with: GWilson…

I’m tired too, but for a different reason. The back doctor tells me that I need surgery to correct a thing going wrong at the bottom of my spine. So no running around for me. At my age (63) I really don’t need or really want to take up running, but walking without pain would be wonderful.

I also like what I think you’re doing with your blog – talking about and doing writing. I need someone who is doing this to study and sometimes bounce ideas around with.

My current project is to collect short (>2000 word) autobiographical and funny stories from growing up about an hour north of San Francisco. While I’m looking for good clean laughs, I really want to get good at leaving my readers with vivid mental images of each event. I want them to enjoy and recall each event as if they were there with me. So I take the first person voice and treat each account as if my reader is sitting there with me and revving them up for a good laugh.

If you’d care to enjoy one between dehydrating and catching a few Zs, you can find my collection at: https://garyawilsonstories.wordpress.com/ . I recommend you start with the Giant Inner Tube story. Everyone loves that wild ride of a story.

Regardless, I look forward to seeing you (in a virtual sense) at the next coffee chat.
    Regards, Gary

    1. Thanks Gary! Sounds like you’re keeping busy for sure. I’m running a bit behind on the reading of things right now, (just home good and about to sleep a bit more) but I plan to check over the link ups some more tomorrow.

      See you then!

    1. Thanks! Unfortunately, the writing has slowed a bit. I’ll be addressing that in tonight’s #WeekendCoffeeShare post though.

      Thanks again for stopping by!
