#WeekendCoffeeShare – Racing and Writing

cappuccino on table

If we were having coffee, we would be drinking, yet again, what the hotel is passing off as coffee.  It seems that it’s been there for a bit now as it’s just warm instead of hot, but there is a microwave here in the room, so we can handle that.  I also noticed some tea bags down there if that’s your thing.  Again, we can make use of the microwave to get that water piping hot, and then we can relax a bit and chat over drinks.  That sounds nice.

Yes, we are on the road again.  We race again tomorrow, and though my fitness has improved over the past month, it’s still not where it needs to be.  Oh well, that’s life.  We’re running another Spartan Race, this time a Super which means it is the middle distance of the three standard Spartan Races.  From checking out the course map, it looks to be around 8.5 miles with 28 obstacles.  I’m hoping for a clean race (clean meaning that I don’t fail any obstacles, not that I won’t be covered in mud) tomorrow, but I always hope for that.  Hasn’t happened yet.

On other fronts, I’m happy to say that I’ve kept my writing streak alive for 28 days now.  Closing in on a month of writing everyday, and only one day was under 300 words.  The lowest you can go and still get credit on The Magic Spreadsheet is 250, but I’ve been trying to stay at least a little above that.  One day I wrote 260 and had all the intentions in the world to go back and write about a hundred more when one thing led inevitably to another and boom, I was asleep.  But still, the streak is alive and well, and I’m happy about that.

I’ve begun writing some background stories in the worlds that I’m writing the main stories in to help me visualize the worlds better and add depth.  I’m not sure if these stories will ever make it into the final works, but maybe they will.  In the meantime, I’m going to start posting them over on my Patreon page for my patrons to read and comment upon.  That is if I ever garner any patrons.  If not, that’s fine too.  I suspect that at some point, those stories will be posted here as well, but in the meantime, they’re going to be over there.  (I’ll be getting started posting them probably next week once we’re back home.)

As for tonight, we’re going to try to find some food and then get to bed.  5:30 comes early!  And so we’re off to find a sweet potato.  Wish me luck!

Hope you are all having great weeks out there, and absolutely killing, whatever it is you’re doing!  (writing, racing, working out, etc…)  Have a great weekend and a wonderful next week!

#WeekendCoffeeShare is an informal weekly link-up that is now hosted by Eclectic Alli. Check out her post for the week and maybe post a share of your own!

    1. The race was good! My running isn’t where I need it yet, but I felt good and strong through the obstacles. So I at least know what to go home and work on.

      Thanks for stopping by!

  2. Wow, 28 days! I’m jealous. If you have any tips I’d love to hear them, then again, knowing me, I probably won’t listen anyway. I’m working on figuring out my own way, you know? Best of luck in the race and thank you for the hotel coffee!

    1. You’re welcome Lisa! I don’t know that if I have qualifies as a tip, but that Magic Spreadsheet does help me. It demands 250 words a day and gives you points for doing it. It’s a total mind game! Check them out, you’ll be glad you did!

    1. Many thanks Irene! The race went well, and most importantly, we had fun. I am now looking forward to the week ahead, filled with, hopefully, more writing and training!

Have a great week! Thanks for stopping by.
