#WeekendCoffeeShare – Music Kind of Night

cappuccino on tableIf we were having coffee, I’d tell you that this is a music kind of night.  As a point of fact, I opted to listen to music on the way home from work tonight.  That drive is normally filled with whatever book I’m listening to on Audible at the time, but not tonight.  Tonight, the music called to me, and I answered.  So sit back and enjoy a cup of something.  I have coffee, tea, and sundry other things to sate you thirst.

As we talk, we can listen to some music.  I’ve got my favorite playlist going.  Willie Nelson (City of New Orleans) is on right now, and who knows what’s next.  Ohh, Elton John, Candle in the Wind!  I love this song!

So, I’ve done a fair bit of editing this week.  Enough to get through the third draft of my story.  I’m ready to let a couple people read it.  I’m always worried about editing.  How do you know that the things your changing are things that need to be changed or just you over analyzing things that are better left alone.  Ahhhhhhg!!!

I don’t know, but I’m going to print it out and see what happens.  I’ve never let people that can touch me read my stuff before.  You may find that weird, and I suppose it is.  It’s just that I’m a bit on an introvert (full disclosure here) and I find it, oh so much easier, to put my stories out on the web to the anonymous reader.  There is a bit of detachment in that I guess.  So, if you never here from me again, you’ll know it didn’t go well.

Lol, just kidding.  I’ll be back no matter what.  I’ve still got those writer dreams, you know?

By the way, Black Crows, “She Talks to Angels” is playing now.  That is a song that I could definitely take some short story inspiration from.

I’m thinking since this is a music kind of night, that I should play the ole guitar a little.  Your welcome to stay, but I understand if you must go.  You can take a cup to go if you would like.

Hope that you have a great week!  See you back here soon, I hope.

#WeekendCoffeeShare is an informal weekly link-up that is now hosted by Eclectic Alli. Check out her post for the week and maybe post a share of your own!

    1. Thanks! I’m definitely going to try enjoying the rest of the weekend. Unfortunately, most of it will be spent at work. 😔

Have a great weekend and week to come!

  1. Music is so great. I, embarrassingly enough, am one of those people you see singing animatedly when parked at a red light. Can’t help it. My 2 boys have picked up the habit too, so I am sure we have been an amusement to a number of motorists (and my husband too when he’s in the truck with us. He doesn’t sing). Great post, thanks for sharing.

  2. I did not know Willie covered City of New Orleans..I must ask Alexa to play it. Congrats on the writing progress. I have ben a lazy writer lately, so I am glad to hear someone is making progress. Thanks for coffee!

    1. Thanks for the kind words Pamela. Yes, I’ve been making some progress, but it is very slow progress. Progress all the same though.

I hope you liked Willie’s version of the song. Honestly, it’s the only one I knew existed! 🤣

      Thanks for stopping by!

  3. Well, Willie Nelson takes me back to the 1970s and my childhood. A friend of my parents’ used to listen to him. I’m Australian so he wasn’t part of the furniture here. I have one CD in the car and that’s my Suzuki violin music for my practicing and I don’t listen to it very often. We keep the radio on most of the time.
Good luck with the editing process. It can feel quite brutal but just keep saving drafts and that way you can go back if you want to reinstate something down the track.
I haven’t had much time for editing my body of work. I’ve been fighting off a sinus infection and there’s always stuff to do for the house, the kids etc. My time just blows up in smoke.
At the same time, People are important to me and being close to my kids, husband, family and also my dogs is very important. Nothing really takes the place of spending time together and that can’t be rushed. This is why I still wish I could lead multiple lives at the same time and be in multiple places at once.

    1. Thanks Rowena! I agree so much with what you’ve said there. The time management between work, hobbies, and family can be brutal.

My editing is slow, but that’s okay. I’ll make time as I can.

      Have a great week!

  4. I love those music-moments. Sometimes you just need the music in your life (I almost always do!)
Good luck on the editing! It’s so challenging… I’m in the middle of a bunch of editing myself — still need to pull apart a chapter to make sense of it. REALLY should do that…
